errr.....Punk....

He hasn't played PES 5 I reckon and PES 4 must be the last version he's played.

Yep, it was a thoroughly enjoyable game, but I want some new animations and more up-to-date rosters.

quicje free kics............errr some others to they fit in with the game not like FIFA where they make players abng into eachother to show off the animations of how alive it all is :D

I...see.

I will buy it and post a review probably by December (my birthday is at the end of november).

To be fair Manee, Pro Evo 4 and 6 are fairly different. Pes 5 and 6 are fairly similar. Playing 4 now after playing 6 it seems a lot faster, and to an extent more fun. However 6 is far more realistic, and has more lastability. 4 was easier to get into straight away, but 6 rewards patience and learning the game.

Yes, I have heard that Pro Evo 5 is too slow, but I may risk 6. BTW, is it still possible to run through an entire team* from a kick off like in 4 because I loved that.

*With a lot of skill that I possess.

here's my quick review to the game.
however, before that, let me tell u about the mindset before i installed it.
this is the first time i have played PES, it's quite a change from FIFA, to which i have grown accustomed to.i had never heared of this game, and thought that no other game existed better than fifa.
suddenly, on this forum, I heared about PES, and it's new upcomming version, PES 6.
i got it, and installed it.and i wanned to stick to it for about a month before deciding about it.

running it for the first time:
bad. felt like a bad console port.those intro movies simply won't go away.
then the interface.I was totally lost, didn't knew where to go.i pressed exit :( and ran FIFA 06.the interface is so slick, so cool.easily navigable, and makes u feel like exploring them to get what's underneath it.
however, after playing one game, i went back to PES, and got myself into tutorial mode.
more sadness....
the tutorial simply game PS2 version of control, and the game didn't have a analogue stick equivalent of the keyboard.:(
had hell of time figuring it all out. then shifted it to x to s to soften my misery.
then exited it, and got into FIFA again. and suddenly marvelled at it's controls. the game was atleast playable with a keyboard.and had good button layout, and combos that could be made with a keyboard.

after all this, i had nothing left in me to try the game again, however, my resolve still existed.
i tried again next time, and finally had got hold of basic controls.then went to the first match.

first match: wow, tonnes of goodies here.the absolute control u have on players is simply awesome.u actually feel that the ball is in your control, after a little practice, the ball goes to where u want it to go, not like fifa that u plan to get the ball to someone else in front and the player passes it to one nearer.hated that.

the game is also sensitive to where u point, perhaps too sensitive for keyboard.
the amount of things/options that u have to think about can generally overwhelm u if u switch from fifa, however, in few days time u will grow into it.

after some more matchs, i started to get frustrated again, not because of the game, but because of my keyboard. the game simply isnt suited to keyboard, balls miss goals, even at half power, needle passes are luck, defending is hell with keyboard.
the time it takes to release one arrow key and switch to other give enough time to attacker to run away.although this is a problem in fifa too, but not at this magnitude.

the big problem with keyboard is that u simply can't exploit the game to it's full potential.FIFA compensates for keyboards direction problem, but this game does not.it's because the game offers too many options for any moment. this is why it's easy to score on crosses in FIFA.

hence, i have put the game on hold.i am gonna get my controller with money i got from winning my clg FIFA 06 tourney, and say bye bye to fifa. hehe:D (in dec)

till that happens, i am gonna play warhammer 40,000:DAwn of war. fifa now feels too empty for me to play it again, while PES feels to much for my keyboard to handle...

That's the difference I was hinting at in my post manee. It was still just about possible in 5, but has again got harder to acheive in 6. Getting space down the wings and whipping in crosses to a tall striker works very well, whilst if you have a quality technical foward, working a little bit of space for a shot is key.

Bare in mind this, if you have an open goal, always make sure you hold R2 after you've bought up the shooting bar ;)

Leo - I would recommend a Usb adapter and Ps2 controller, either that or the logitech contoller that looks like a Ps2 controller. Key is you want the shoulder buttons to be comfortably accessible as R2 is a key button.

Regarding your finishing going over the bar or wide, like I said to Manee try and use R2 after pushing shoot, it side foots and gives you far more accuracy :)

i know of it, but the problem is that pressing all these keys are almost impossible for a keyboard.

Actually it takes a lot of time to get used to. I also had same problem when I started playing footy games with keyboard but after sometime I managed to use my keyboard as a PS2 controller. :D

but surely, you have to buy a controller if you have long term plans to stay with PES. :p (and that's exactly what I did)

dudes one thing............football games arent for keyboards or maybe PCs although the patches are great i think you should all either get a controler like a PS2 one or jst play on consoles but even with PC get a controller much easier!!!

Played the demo today and I'm quite impressed. Although the AI seemed easier, the scoring and attacking system looks like it has improved vastly.

Playing with the controller is so much easier.
