PS3/360 Versions Troubleshooting/Bug Reporting

So I played online mode with ps3 against a friend the other day. There is a bug where if you get bowled it just carries on - you dont get out. Happened twice to me.

So another bug for ps3 is that if you lose the toss you can save the game immediately and come out, then go back in and it lets you toss from the beginning again, so you could keep tossing until you get the result you want.

Anyone have an issue with the controls when playing offline multiplayer after saving the game and coming back? It breaks the batting controls. It happens when you play tour or competition too.

So the last half hour of a 4 day game was rained out so I got a day 5? haha career mode.

I am one of the regular players of DBC ps3 online leagues. I have observed few issues please look into these issues if not reported earlier, If these were already reported ignore them.

1) While hosting the match online , in custom match screen lobby even we select Dry hard pristine as pitch conditions , only dry pitch is guaranteed but hard or soft pitch is always randomized. Please lock the pitch conditions which are set by hosting team.

2) While batting If we want to change the lineup of batsman we needs to do it from select Next Batsman window , If we move any bowler/batsman to wicket keeper position then the new guy at wicket keeper location is going to keep the wickets instead of actual wicket keeper.
Ex: If Australia vs India are playing a game.

  • Australia is batting first and in actual lineup if Brad Haddin(WK) is at 6th place & Mitchell Johnson is at 8th place
  • While batting If I move Johnson to bat at 6th place.. then Johnson is batting at 6th place then haddin at 7th accordingly the batting line up is adjusted.
  • But when Australia comes to bowling.. Mitchell Johnson will be keeping wickets .. so Australia cant use Mitchell johnson as a bowler.
3) PS3 gets hung while loading a saved online game, after listing both team squads ps3 hung..it wont respond till we do hard reset of ps3. This was a random issue happened only with one saved file ..seems to be corrupted save file ..Happened only once out of thousand times.

There are lot of other online game play issues ..like
Invisible ball to batsman ,
After batsman played the shot, ball will be going to fielder suddenly it will teleport to stumps and given as out by umpire,
Inner circle fielders will be spectators when the lag is there, they will get control only after the ball passes them.

Please consider above issues for patch 3 if possible , 1 & 2 points are not random & related to lag.

Thanks for the great game. Happy New Year to BigAnt team & Planet Cricket members

Spot on with all the points you made. I was wondering till Today, how come Shane Warne is Keeping Wicket instead of Sanggakara in my custom team. Now I understood the logic, never to change the batting position of the Wicketkeeper, specially with any specialist Bowler. @BigAntStudios Today I played a PS3 game after a long time, and while I was batting, though I saw myself getting bowled out, the game continued as nothing happened and it was registered as dot ball (It happened 4 Times in one inning). Also as someone said in above post, sometime it shows ball has passed the fielder and you start running, but all of a second, you see bowl is with either Bowler or Wicketkeeper and they run you out (It also happened 4 Times in a single inning). It makes it really difficult to judge a run (Specially if you are playing short formats like F5/T10 or T20) and you give away wicket like a gift to the opposition and it changes the complete complexion of the match. We all (Those who play Online) hope these issues will be taken care in Patch-3, as we believe addressing these issues should be the priority rather than adding any additional feature. For example, we can live without Online Co-Op etc, but it is fundamental that Online glitches are addressed on priority basis, as this what will give the game longevity.

Note: I am talking about in general Online Glitches which is common to all the platform (Less in PC I suppose than PS3).

People are strangely obsessed with co-op, Big Ant should focus on it simply to get people to stop complaining about a feature that wasn't on the box not being in the game.

Considering the majority of online 'bugs' are only experienced when there is a bad online connection, I imagine it's extremely difficult to diagnose issues and find fixes.

Hopefully no one complaining about bad online play uses WiFi to play online.

The particular match I was talking about, we both were using DSL Broadband Connection through wire (Not Wi Fi), I would presume 8 MBPS connection is acceptable for playing Online Matches. But I agree, if all the issues are because of bad connections only, then of-course nothing can be done and we have to live with these issues. But on positive note, before the slow responding fielders were addressed after the last update, it had been thought (by few people), that issue was also due to poor Internet connection, but now irrespective of connection, we dont have slow moving fielders issue anymore (or may be very rarely), so I trust Ross to come up with some solution to at-least reduce the frequency of these glitches if not remove it 100%.. But I agree, if these glitches are for Bad network, nothing can be done.

It's not the speed of the connection that matters, it's the latency of it. Heavily congested internet is the worst, I found when @Biggs used to know how to turn on his computer, that once it hit around 5pm - the matches would just suddenly get terrible and buggy. Later in the night or during the day they'd be back to being pretty much faultless.

It's probably something that should be indicated in the lobby next to a user, like a lot of other online games do, just to give an indication of the likely quality of the experience.

Matt I don't think all the online bugs are due to bad internet connection. I used to play AC09 back in 2009-10 when internet connectivity was generally poorer compared to now and I never had so many issues. Yes, you used to get lag but that was about it - no gameplay related issues such as black screen, no sound of ball hitting the bat, batsman not given out when bowled, magic no balls, magic played ons, teleporting fielders or ball, invisible balls on occasion, 'unable to connect' error etc. Also, I have played a bunch of other games online and never really had a similar experience as DBC online.

This is really something Big Ant need to focus on as longevity of the game is coz of online gameplay and I hope they enhance the online gameplay experience. Also, I wouldn't make a wired internet connection a pre-requisite to a decent online experience. I don't have my console wired like most of the folks as it's not practical. Again, never had any issues with wifi in any other game (including AC09) so don't know why wired connection is a must when generally internet connectivity and bandwidth are generally better in 2014-14 than it was in 2009. DBC 14 is a great game, and definitely the best cricket game I've played, but I'm sorry online gameplay experience leaves a lot to be desired. If DBC 14 online gameplay is elevated to the level of offline experience, this game would be in the same ballpark as Madden, FIFa or NBA2K for most cricket gaming fans.

Matt I don't think all the online bugs are due to bad internet connection.
Not all of them. But comparing DBC with a really good connection to even a mediocre one, it's like playing a totally different game.

I'm certain that there's things Big Ant could do to improve the experience, but I suggest the underlying issue is one of the game falling out of synchronisation between the two players and the local consoles trying to piece things together with dropped packets and getting strange results.

If they were simply bugs in the online code, then they'd happen regardless of the quality of the connection. But that's not my experience.

I don't have my console wired like most of the folks as it's not practical.
Find a way to try it, even if temporarily just to see if the difference is as large as I find it to be.

Agree 100 % with the above posters , nothing more to add .

Please try and fix/stabilise/lessen the online issues.
