He may fix it. But he has to be punished for this mistake right?

Basic purpose for this thread is to leave Aamer alone, with a small punishment.
Why can't it be "Playing for some other minnow"?
Not representing his home nation is the 'small punishment' part. Allowing him to play will be 'leaving alone' part.

When many players have represented two nations in their career, I don't see any wrong in implementing this.

There has been some terrible ideas on this website but this is ridiculous. You can't pick and choose which international team you play for. For starters he has no claim to Bangladeshi citizenship and you need to be a citizen to play for your own country.

Atop of this it is highly disrespectful towards Bangladesh "Hey we've got a cheat here and because you're rubbish we see it as a punishment for him to have to play for you."

Drop this idea; its making you look ridiculous.

You really can't see any wrong?

So you're saying, because Amir has cheated he should play for a minnow team. That's the best of both worlds isn't it.

It doesn't work that way. You don't dump players onto another country. First of all, he's Pakistani, not Bangladeshi so he can't represent Bangladesh. Playing for Bangladesh means you're Bangladeshi! And the reasoning for him playing for Bangladesh is absolutely stupid. "He did something wrong so let's dump him on this country".

Why should Bangladesh take him anyway? They've been better than Pakistan in England, so why should they have players dumped on them.

Binnu, what you've just said is ridiculously stupid and the fact that you can't realise how stupid it is, sums up how stupid you are.

the fact butt was in his ear before the ball was bowled is a bit telling. It's almost like, remember you agreed to this.

I understand people wanting an example made of him, but you also have to be fair. he's 18, without any friends surrounded by corruption. He is young enough that they could have convinced him it was all ok, at 18 I was an idiot and people of 25, 26 or 27 seemed infinitely more mature and knowledgable. On top of this, it's possible they were offering more money than he'd seen in his life, people have to remember 10 grand seems like a paltry amount to us in the western world, I don't know amirs background, but there are people in pakistan where that would be huge.

I very much believe if you remove the rotten core from the team (And the board, personally I think it's dodgey players were warned about meeting agents, sounds like they knew stuff was going on) that a number of players can be salvaged.

Wahab cannot be that involved either, he's barely played for pakistan making me think he got caught up as well.

Asif sadly has to go for good. Butt too, and if Kamran akmals drops in sydney were part of a fix, he needs to go for good too. captaincy should go to Gul, he's one of the few that isn't tainted by this. The honorable players need to be given more power because to retain their integrity in the circumstances of that dressing room shows they obviously have great character.

What about Mr. Kepler Wessels?
He has represented both Australia and South Africa.

What about Dirk Nannes?
He has represented ICC World T20 2009 for Dutch and the very next edition, he was found in Australian colors.

And what about England Cricket team? Many of them originated from South Africa, India and Pakistan.
That practice has been implemented before IPL. So, don't get the talk of IPL in here.

I know that its an idiotic idea, but it solves this thread purpose perfectly.

For starters they had claims to play for those respective teams as they had parents whom were of that nationality, had lived there long enough to become said nationality or where born there.

They probably made Amir believe that they would never be caught. And that messed it up for him.

(Please pay attention to my posts; It seems to me that everyone is just overlooking them.)

They weren't banned, that makes the difference.:facepalm

Wait!
Firstly, I don't have any intension to cheapen Bangladesh Cricket Team/any other minnow:yes.

All I said was and is a solution for "Aamer's talent should not be wasted". I din't/don't/will not have intension in my mind of cheapen Bangladesh Cricket team/any other minnow team. I respect players (not the cheats though) and teams:cool:.

You CANNOT show leniency. No matter how young or "naive" he is, if Aamer is just as much involved as Asif and Butt he has to serve the same punishment. It's not about how much talent he has, or how young he is. They are all international cricketers who have the responsibility of upholding the game's integrity.

Although its possible he was coerced into doing said activities he is still guilty of said crimes if proved guilty. And you can't have one rule for one and one for another.

If the police believe they have enough evidence he could be having jail time let alone getting away with a few years ban.

Themer added 2 Minutes and 20 Seconds later...

Wait!

I couldn't care how good he is. Its his fault if he has done the alleged and him who has wasted his talent.

Like wise Asif has one of the best records in the last ten year should every misdemeanor he's committed not be fully punished just because he is very talented?

No.

Even I say to gift that guy a punshment with what everyone is being gifted with.
I've said the same thing in my first and the foremost post of this thread!

Take out the punishment on him and make him play for Bangladesh/Zimbabwe!
That would be good cause those teams will not play high profile series' and chances of match fixing cases would be less. Assuming he's a corrupt, he won't be having chance to have a chat with Bookies.

OR

Gift him the punishment which everyone involved in the scam gets! (See Biggy's reason, I second it.)

But your punishment is absolutely ridiculous. So you're saying that Asif, Amir, Butt, Yousuf, the Akmal brothers etc should all be playing for Bangladesh now. How is that going to solve anything?

I wish I could say yes, I really do :(. However, I feel that an example must be made of all these cricketers by banning them for life. No future or for that matter, current, cricketers should feel that they can get away with minimal (relatively speaking) punishment.

I don't think Binnu understands how insulting it is to the Bangladeshis. It would be like someone getting caught for theft in the USA and their punishment is to go live in India :p
