Arslaan's story has been removed, so those who voted for him may vote again.

Why did you remove the story from voting Trev?

It should have been there because user can't just remove his story from the nominations just on requests. Shantanu's story removal was completely a different scenario where in first place, it shouldn't been nominated due to completion of a match criteria.

User's can't request and remove/nominate their stories. If the writer is not willing to continue, its fine. I don't see any problem.

In-fact, you were the one who suggested this,

when F1man was not ready to continue the story.

I feel like cancelling this month's SOTM contest due to many confusions you know. Anyways, let this not happen again. The stories can't be removed or nominated by request. :readit:

The new rules are better.

Users should be allowed to remove themselves. It's ridiculous not to allow it.

I don't see why the members have to compete in the Story Of The Month if they don't want to or don't feel their story has been active enough. It's their story and surely if they don't want it to be nominated, it shouldn't be nominated? It's the same as people requesting to have their story up for the poll.

I agree and disagree with you Suren.
I think you should be allowed to remove your story if you don't want the reward and feel other members deserve the pride.

Once the eligible stories are put up on poll, it will look better if it survives and completes the contest.

Today a writer comes and say, "I won't continue the story.. So remove it! " Story is getting removed.

Tomorrow, a writer feels that his story didn't get any votes and hence comes and requests, " I want my story to get removed " You want to remove it?

Naah.. Once the story is up in the poll, it has to complete the cycle irrespective of the results. After all the SOTM is just to make the story writers to try to reach the benchmark which the winner of the contest achieves. A winner of one month's contest in turn implies the effort the writer has put in previous month irrespective of whether he is going to be active this month. Those applied efforts will still stand as a benchmark for other writers though it becomes inactive next month.:onpc

With all due respect Suren, Jack and James have taken care of the SOTM very well and don't need pointers and people telling them what to do. They've done a fine job with it.

I respect what your saying Suren and can see what you are talking about, and agree with you slightly. However, Arslaan's story did get votes and he still wanted to remove his story in a good mood and not out of spite of not getting any votes. I still think that the story writer has the right to choose whether he wants his story in Story Of The Month or not. It's just a little competition with no seriousness and if they don't want to take part, then they shouldn't have to. Just my tuppence, mind.

Don't you even try and have a go at Suren. I am going to be honest the story forum is nothing how it was back in the days when people like Suren, gamerkid etc were updating. It isn't the mods fault, but I would listen to Suren's opinion over the other two any day, just down to the fact that he has a lot more experience and things used to work really well in his day. And SOTM's recently haven't been always on time and there is a lot of confusion because people started fiddling with the rules. One set of rules, mods all coming from the same hymn sheet and just get on with it.

SOTM hasn't always been on time? There has never been a set time for them to be up. Before I was moderator, even when I was a moderator at the start, we tried to get them up at around the 6th of the month, but it wasn't set in stone. Whenever we would get it up we would and then we would let it run for a month. Just because the SOTMs are started 4/5/6 days later now doesn't mean they are late and aren't on time.

Anyway, instead of arguing and people getting annoyed and frustrated there is no need to post as it is being discussed between the Story Moderators. Any posts from now on that are about the subject will be deleted. Make sure that if you post from not on that it is about this months SOTM and who you are, or who you have, voted for. Cheers.

Well after havin 3 votes :p I have voted Funky's story.

I respect Suren's opinions, but it doesn't mean I agree with him. SOTM is fun, and not something serious. There's no need to make it strict by not allowing people's stories to be removed if they ask.

Anyway, no more on the matter please.

Oh and Tom, I would also listen to Suren over you :p

And I am older than Jaz, Mani is wiser than Jaz and Griffo can drink more than Jaz. Basically Jaz is work experience boy of the mods :p
