South Africa in England July-Sept 2012

Do you know what occurred to me when this all kicked off. Swanny's diaries when they beat Australia... I don't seem to remember KP ever appearing, at any point, ever during the video.

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking as well, pretty much every other England player was involved in those videos but him.

I imagine something along the lines of.

"Well I'll just play IPL cricket, sod you all anyway."
"Ok, then, but who you going to play cricket for the rest of year to guarantee you keep getting IPL contracts?"
"I'll play county cricket."
"Oh will you now, we own county cricket?"
"Fine, I'll go abroad and play for anyone who'll have me!"
"And your wife and kid are happy with that are they?"
"Err... I'll.... err... I'll... errr..."

Interesting point, if of course the factual inaccuracy of your post is ignored. In which case it's also insightful :p

Bell was dropped, earnt his place back and has scored good runs since. Broad's numbers have done nothing but drop since his initial misguided attempts to be the enforcer.... and well Swann has been our most successful spinner since Laker, and was dropped for the last test (incorrectly).

I doubt Swanny could afford KPs appearance fee to have him in the Ashes video diaries. :p

There have just been a few indicators for me.
Swanny criticised KP's captaincy quite a lot in his diaries and then on twitter when every other England player was avoiding mentioning it KP made fun of Swanny's DUI.
I can't see Swanny every holding back from giving his opinion of someone to their face and whilst he's said he thinks ODI cricket should be abolished he still makes a point of playing for the team. Another thing he said in his book is he loves to be involved in every single England match, hates being 12th man and hates being rested.
I can't see anyone else apart from maybe Jimmy having the seniority to stand up to KP. Cook and Bell strike me as too passive, Trott is in his own bubble. I don't see it being Broad and Prior is too much of a team player to rock the boat imo.

I guess we'll know once Swann or KP retire!

Didn't Swann also "follow" that fake KP Twitter profile and only just recently "unfollow" it? I'd say Swann is a prime suspect.

Haha, yeah I can just hear it running in my mind right now :yes

I'm more upset that twitter actually took the account down... wonder how they justified it (other than it being their site and they can do whatever the hell they want)

I believe it was discontinued by the account owner himself and not by twitter or because of KP's lawyers. That furthermore suggests it was someone close to the team although not actually in it.

Oh dear me, just when things seemed to be back to normal. :noway Can't quite blame the ECB though.

Hmm, strange this. If he's come out and jumped through all the hoops, it seems odd to then drop him.

Jumped through all the hoops? Looks like he thought he could do what he wanted and when he realised that the ECB were going to drop him for his behaviour he came out with this as a last ditch attempt to keep his place.

Utter prat.

Well, he's come out apologised, agreed to be available for all forms of cricket, and apparently sat down with whoever he had issues with (I think it was probably Strauss due to the fact it was apparently Strauss he was slating via text to the Saffers). However, Agnew's article suggest KP still hasn't actually apologised for the texts so clearly whatever issues exist haven't been resolved.

Will his 149 be his last innings for England? Our batting lineup looks considerably weaker for this last test without him. Especially with Strauss a walking wicket, Cook struggling, Trott without a run of scores for some time, Bell susceptible against world class bowling, and the two middle order players with under 5 tests. I wonder if they'll actually go in with 5 bowlers finally?
