Match Preview

Mark- welcome for todays match South Africa V West Indes

well for todays match i am joined by Tony Grieg. Barry Richards, Tony Cozier and Ravi Shatri

currently with me in the studio now are Barry Richards and Tony Cozier

well Barry south africa have got off to a perfect start to this series by winning the opener.

Barry- Yes mark they have gained alot of confidence from the match against india and they know not to under estimate the west indes

Mark- well barry this match will kind a be advantage for the west indes because south africa just played india yesterday and now they have to play the west indes one day later.

Barry- yes the south african were not too keen with both matches a day after the other. so i do agree with south africans would be tired yesterday from playing india and west indes have a big advantage.

Mark- well let me say a very warm welcome to Tony Cozier.

well Tony how do you rate the west indes chances to day against a team who won yesterday very convincingly.

Tony- well mark this one will be a test for the west indes but theyll be happy that they have a strong squad with the likes of lara, sarwan and gayle.

Mark- well the west indes do have a good record against south africa in south africa do you think this will help the tony.

Tony- yes i certainly do west indes have a good record here they beat south africa in the opener of the world cup

Mark- well lets hear from the other tony in the commentary box about what he thinks todya match will produce for the fans.

Tony- well here are two points of views

1. if your either the south african or west indes fans you want your team to do well

2. if your a neutral you will want so see a cracker today from both sides giving their all.

i agree with number 2 i dont want to see a one sideded match like how it was yesterday between south africa and india.

Mark- yes Tony we all agree with you on that one.

Interview
well lets head to ravi shastri who is with umpire simon taufel

Ravi- thank you Mark i am here with umpire simon taufel.
taufel.jpg

simon there is going to be a huge atmosphere here from both sets of fans. does that become intimdating when umpiring.

Simon- well sometimes it does if you make the wrong decision the crowd can be lethal with and it can cause to make bad decisions.

Ravi- well you recently won the award for best umpire of the year.

Simon- i was really happy at that and hopefully i can continue makling correct decisions.

Ravi- ok back to you mark.

Mark- Well guys let quickly discuss the toss and who should do what when they win the toss.

Tony Cozier- yes mark this is a 2nd day johannessburg wicket. so again same as yesterday it will seam and swing in the early overs but turn into a batsmen paradise later on, but however this match is a day night match and the team batting last will find it almost impossible to bat. so even though this is a seaming wicket. i would bat here first

Mark- ok before the coin toss lets quickly take a break. dont go away.

Toss

Mark- welcome back now lets join Ravi shastri for the toss

Ravi- Thanks Mark i think this pitch will be mostly sames as yesterday but the side but last last may be able to chase. as in the early overs the ball will do alot of the seam.
pitch12reportjburg.jpg

Ravi- im here with the 2 captains Graeme Smith, Brian Lara and match referee Clive Loyd

After you clive.

Gareme smith Shouts Tails. Head is the result. so Brian lara wins the toss

So Brian What do you Want to do

Brian- well the pitch looks like a good batting track so we are going to have a bat and set a good target for south africa to chase under the lights.

Ravi- ok thank you Brian. so Graeme what do you think about the outcome of this toss.

Graeme. well we would of had a bat if we won but if get early wickets like yesterday we'll have west indes under pressure

Ravi- ok the west indes have decided to bat first back to you mark in the studio

Mark- thabks ravi. well join for the start of play after this short commerical. dont go away this match promises to be a cracker

Start of play

Mark well come back now as both teams walking out to the fiels lets hand over to our commentators Ravi Shastri and Tony Grieg.

ravi- Thank you mark. here are the lineups

well it a sunny day here today at Johannesburg just a couple of clouds to cool thing down. this macth promises to be a cracker Tony.

Tony- yes ravi no offense but lets hope its more competitive than the match aginst the indians.

Ravi- the umpires for today are simon taufel and billy bowden

ok everything looks set. umpire taufel shouts out 'lets play' and shaun pollock to start the proceedings

and with the first ball shaun pollock gets un even bounce and the ball hits gayles right hand. that had to hurt.

Tony- yes ravi straight some uneven bounce this pitch may detoriate later on today.

Update from Johannesburg West Indes 21/0 After 2 overs

Ravi- well the west indes have started off to flyer as Gayle edges Ntini twice.

Update from Johannesburg Makhaya's Revenge

Gayle Out

West Indes 23/1 After 2.3 Overs

Ravi- Gayle is out after he tried to loft a short ball from Ntini. The ball went high in the air and kallis had safe hands. Ntini gets some revenge then, after gayle egded him twice for 4

gaylewik.jpg

Tony- thats a big break through for the south africans. Gayle is a very dangerous batsmen on his day

15th Over Update from Johannesburg West Indes riding High

West Indes 101/1 after 15 Overs

Ravi- well the West Indes have got off to a flyer and the south african bowlers look shell shocked

Tony- yes ravi after gaykes wicket the south african have bowled too many half vollyes to the west indes, and now west indes are very much on top, but there where two chances of the bowling off pollock at sarwan and boucher failed to cling onto the catch.

Here are some of the highlights:

Boucher misses sarwan edge

the 50 up in 5.3 overs

Hinds 4

Sarwan off the mark with a 4

hinds getting into the groove

Sarwan blast ntini for nearly a six

Here are the scorecard after 15 overs

ntni for south africa was really unlucky he bowled well got a couple of edges and the fielders failed to hang on. in the end he went for 42 runs of 4 overs which forced smith to changet to kallis who went for 12 off his first over
