The chief selector of Cricket South Africa has announced the 14 man squad for the test series against Australia. According to the reports, the newly appointed coach, Gary Kirsten has been involved in the selection of the squad. Ryan McLaren and Wayne Parnell have been selected in the whites, although they were serving the Saffers as twelfth men in the series against India.

Gary Kirsten, the new coach of South Africa has spoken to media, where he paraphrased that South Africa will win the World Cup Down Under in 2015. He said that he has got ample amount of time and everything from scratch would result in success, just like how it happened to India. He appreciated both the South African skippers Graeme Smith & AB de Villiers, and he said that South Africa will soon regain its Numero Uno position in both the formats of cricket.

Graeme Smith, the skipper of South Africa in test format, has declared that this test series will be a real test for him. He paraphrased that the team was working united and they're waiting for the series to begin. He wished Michael Clarke a speedy recovery too.

The South African squad for the Test Matches looks a strong unit with a world-class top-order consisting of Smith, Amla, Kallis & de Villiers followed up by Duminy, Prince and Boucher to fill the lower-order. With Harris playing as the main spinner and Steyn and Morkel the main bowlers it does leave one spot open for an extra seamer which will be either of the young-guns; Tsotsobe, Parnell & McLaren. Personally, all three are fairly inexperienced at International level and therefore to back up the seam bowlers early on contains a fair element of risk. Therefore, I would play Wayne Parnell.

It will be interesting to see how the Australians face the strong seam attack aswell as the depth of the batting.

Due to time constrains, I'm simming the practice match with Cricksim because of lack of good roster for South Africa domestic roster. And as Cricksim doesn't support 2 day practice match, the practice match has been changed to a three day one which'll start from 19th August!

:)

That is a rock solid RSA squad. Eagerly waiting to see Aussies go down the barrel.

South Africa A v Australians,
3 Day Warm Up match,
Kingsmead, Durban.

Toss:
Auatralia won the toss and decided to bat first..
Ricky says Tim Paine will be experimented opening alongside Watto, he's hoping for a good game of first class cricket.
Puttick is happy with being enforced to bowl. He's confident of his South Africa A and is hoping to give 100% tough competition to Australians and demoralize 'em before the main series starts.

Australians started off with a bang, as both Shane Watson and Tim Paine played excellent cricket for about an hour. Tim Paine & Shane Watson took the responsibility of giving a good start to their team. They used a unique strategy of changing the aggressive ones among them randomly, which ended South Africa A end up clueless for the first hour. They both gave a start which would set them both the permanent openers for the rest of the tour, especially Paine's young blood was too hot to handle.

Tim Paine plays a shot in his aggressive 40 ball fifty.

Whenever South African bowler gave little bit of room, he extracted the maximum of it perfectly. It started off with a perfectly dispatched shot off Kleinveldt right in the second over, where the fielder Jaarsveld was just watching the ball go beyond him for a beautiful boundary over extra cover. Alexander tasted Tim Paine's talent as he was hit badly by the latter in the very next over. Four in the very first ball, then a huge six, a ball after and a perfect four straight over the former's head made the Australians have a perfect test match start after a long gap, since Haydos and Katman were parted. Later in 14th over, he banged van der Merwe for whopping 13 runs, which included 3 boundaries, where he reached an aggressive 40 ball half century.

Vernon Philander appeals for unsuccessful LBW.

Shane Watson, on the other hand was playing his trademark cricket. Whenever he got room, he used it. Although he wasn't much aggressive, he played sensible risk-free cricket, which he generally plays. They both din't concentrate on singles much, no idea why. They mainly concentrated on boundaries, and they gave up running even though they had a great chance of running. Might be due to this being just a practice match and the dimensions of ground, which are pretty less when compared to other grounds.

"Take that Kleinveldt!"- Watto.

South Africa A captain Puttick was completely clueless after the start which Aussies had. He constantly kept on changing the bowlers, used all the available resources right in the first session itself. By the time experienced bowlers came into action, the Aussies din't dare to play aggressive cricket against them due to the fact that the ball was swinging due to heavy winds all over and the overcast conditions. It soon began to drizzle, which turned out to be a heavy rain. The game was officially bought to halt at 11:03 hours local time, after 15.1 overs were bowled.

Overs: 15 .1;
AUSTRALIANS: 81/0 (lead 81);
Shane Watson: 27(46b 6X4);
Tim Paine: 52(45b 11X4 1X6).
v
SOUTH AFRICA A:
R Kleinveldt 4.1-0-22-0;
Vernon Philander 3.0-0-9-0.

The Aussies will want to be back on the park soon after their positive start. I hope Tim Paine makes a big score and puts himself in contention for test selection. By the way, is brad Haddin playing?

Good writing, a few grammatical errors, but you've captured the atmosphere well.

As soon as the rain came to an end, the game resumed. Everyone were waiting with anticipation on how would the match turn, due to the fact that the ground experienced a decent amount of shower for almost two hours, which meant that bowlers can easily have a cakewalk. Tim Paine, was looking very careful as this would be a real test for him- considering he has improved a lot, playing in these circumstances would be a real test for him. Shane Watson, who has good amount of experience in all types of conditions was also looking careful as even he didn't want to take any chance.

Shane Watson plays a shot.

They both started playing decent cricket in the 16th over, but in the very next one, they seemed as if they got back their aggression. They hit the most experienced bowler of South Africa A for 9 runs, which included two boundaries, one from each bat. They continued the same form of cricket for three more overs, which fetched them a 100 run partnership when Tim Paine dispatched a boundary over long on off Kleinveldt.

Rory Kleinveldt wicket ball.

No sooner did the batsmen celebrate their century stand, Kleinveldt put a stop to their stand as Tim Paine was sent out the very next ball. Trying to hit another four, this time over long on again, he didn't connect the ball well. The ball was straight into the hands of the fielder at mid-on Jacques Rudolph. South Africans had something to celebrate because it was the first wicket they took since the start of the match and the aggressive Tim Paine departed after giving Aussies a good start, which luckily din't turn out to be a big one.

Tim Paine 64 (57b 14X4 1X6);
c. Rudolph b. Kleinveldt;
FOW: 101-1.

Ricky Ponting walked into the middle, when the little crowd present greeted him with a boo. He accompanied Shane Watson to control the ship. Shane Watson, who played decent cricket earlier in the game, turned out to be a bit aggressive. He started scoring boundaries at a better rate. The batsmen, this time tend to take few singles at a quicker rate, unlike the previous pair, who took not even 12 proper singles in their 100 run stand.

Ricky Ponting pulls the ball for a four.

Ricky Ponting and Shane Watson played careful cricket for about 10 overs to ensure South Africa A remain wicket less after the fall of Paine. Ricky took few calculated risks, but they were not much risky, which fetched South Africa A a wicket. Roelof van der Merwe was clearly targeted, as his economy rate was exactly 7. Theron, Philander, Ontong & Alexander remained wicket less just like van der Merwe, who was bit costly too. Kleinveldt picked up Tim Paine, which was the only thing, which favored South Africa A in the total day of cricket so far.

End of over 29;
TEA: DAY 1
AUSTRALIANS: 134/1 (lead 134);
Shane Watson 48(78b 10X4)
Ricky Ponting 16(39b 3X4)
v
SOUTH AFRICA A:
Juan Theron 6.0-2-16-0
Roelof van der Merwe 3.0-0-21-0
