Not a convincing performance by any means, but Real coming out 2-0 victors over poor Sociedad. Reyes showing his skill in a wonderfully taken curling freekick (Eat that Arsenal!) and Beckham also getting on the scoresheet.

Guti had an extremely poor game, and the likes of Emerson and Diarra also disappointed me. Reyes, RVN, Ramos, Cicinho and Cannavaro were good though.

Just for the record, Reyes dint even dive once in the game. Infact there were no dives at all. More falls in the EPL nowdays.

This weekend its a tough encounter away to Betis. The men in white and green stripes always put up a stern challenge against Real although this time they will be missing the creativity and pace of one of the finest wingers in the world today, Joaquin, who is now in Valencia.

Raul and Michel Salgado were both doubtful for this game but seemed to have passed the first hurdle in making it to the squad list. But their injury concerns coupled with Capello's hint of squad rotation might see the two Spanish internationals miss the game against Betis. There is also a slight chance that one Mr. Ronaldo might feature tonight.

With most teams playing tomorrow, Real have a chance to go top of the table by beating Betis. Come on the Whites!!

A much better performance from Real, and for the first time this season they dominated play. Betis at home are always tough to beat, so winning there is some achievement. Good to see Diarra get his first goal as a Madrista. He did very well to outjump two defenders and head the ball into the net. Good pass by Cicinho as well. Shame about the Reyes injury although I believe its not too serious. Cicinho on the other hand looks to be missing a major chunk of the season.

What a tight match between Barca and Valencia at Camp Nou. Valencia really dominated in the first half an hour also scoring the goal with great wing play by Joaquin and a good finish by Villa. Barca were weak on the wings but came hard at Valencia in the second half. Rijkaard brought in Iniesta for Edmilson and he immediately scored. It remained 1-1 for the rest of the match although Barca were robbed of to clear penalties.

Joaquin, Raul and Mariano Pernia have all been dropped from the Spain squad to face Sweden. No Vicente still.

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Pepe Reina (Liverpool).

Defenders: Antonio Lopez (Atletico Madrid), Pablo Ibanez (Atletico Madrid), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Juanito (Real Betis), Joan Capdevila (Deportivo Coruna), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)

Midfielders: Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Jose Antonio Reyes (Real Madrid), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), Luis Garcia (Liverpool), Xabi Alonso (Liverpool), David Albelda (Valencia), Miguel Angel Angulo (Valencia)

Forwards: Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid), David Villa (Valencia)

The Madrid derby ends 1-1!!!

Raul scored again, which is great! Maybe Aragones might want to think about his decision to drop the Golden boy.

Was a good derby game that,I thought Athletico should have scored more than one in the first half as they were the better team in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, after the Ramos red card,Real were mainly trying to defend with the odd counter attack,so it wasnt surprising that it ended all square.Torres looked good and the young lad(Aguero I think was his name) looked pretty good as well despite missing a really good chance near the end.For Real Diarra and Raul were the best players on the park,I expected Guti to get those tackles after his midweek comments.

Well Guti did get three Athletico players yellow carded and put in the ball for Raul to score. But then it was a fine finish from Raul.
