Sri Lankan Tour of Australia, October-November 2010/11

Usually would be a good time to blame Ponting's captaincy for another shocking loss but this ends up being our captain in waiting. Not good signs at all, might be time to look for a new future captain. Anyway not taking anything away from SL, bowled well and what an 8th wicket partnership.

Personally I feel the runchase of Pakistan was more difficult then this one. Back then required runrate was 8.5 with 20 overs to go. In this ODI Sri Lanka were chasing with a required runrate of 4,5 or 5 at his highest point. The only difference is that Sri Lanka made this possible with a ninth wicket partnership.

quite chuffed.

I might be wrong but did Malinga not lay into the aussie bowling a bit last time sri lanka toured for a test series? I seem to remember him firing a few sixes.

brilliant win, Malinga was superb but the real plus is mathews, injured so he can't bowl right now, but his all-round contribution will be vital at the world cup.

Wow, just wow. I'm not much of a Steve Smith fan, but give him a bloody chance Michael Clarke! What a disgrace only giving the best spin bowler only three overs where Sri Lanka was clearly struggling with spin.

Australia thirst for win in any format continues. Kudos to 2 M's for making the chase possible.

One of the best ODI's I have seen. Usually I don't watch cricket when India doesn't play but thank god I didn't turned off TV even when Sri Lanka was losing wickets consistently.

So Hastings bowled 6 overs, Smith bowled 3, both bowled well in their collective 9, so uh Michael, why exactly did you put yourself on?

According to the post match discussion he hurt his back. His figures suggest that he would have been a good option for Clarke to bring in though

Man the aussies better hope Bollinger is ready for ashes as you certainly wont want Johnson along with Siddle to lead the attack. Might need Ponting to roll the arm over :)

LOL the same old story continues for the aussies. Its not the first time they have surrendered an easy victory, really a pathetic bowling performance from siddle , he was disgusting being smacked all over the park. And poor doherty , everything went like a dream for him until these duo came on and absolutely swash buckled the aussies .

Haarithan added 0 Minutes and 33 Seconds later...

And wait a minute why did they prefer siddle over mckay ?? :facepalm

Steve Smith needs to toughen up then ;).

Great run chase by the two batsmen, but geez we must have some problems allowing a 130 odd run 9th wicket partnership. Mitch Johnson was terrible as well which isn't a good sign.

I'd be pissed off if Hauritz gets a game ahead of Doherty, but then on the plus side Doherty wiill play in the Tassie game on Saturday.

Yeah, it was a much classier effort, but far less surprising. I know I made $70 from that result :p

The quicks are so one dimensional. It's all high speed, straight up, too short, come on to the bat nicely stuff. We really need to get a good line and length bowler into the side and a proper seamer or a proper swing bowler who can get the ball moving on even the most neutral pitches. And someone with a good change of pace. Once you get your eye in, as the Sri Lankan boys did, bowlers who come straight on are easy pickings.
