Sri Lankan Tour of Australia, October-November 2010/11

Australia are in the middle of a huge runchase.

Johnson just hit a 125 meters six. It landed on the second tier. But Jayawardene makes sure he doesn't do that again, because he was run out Johnson.

I was expecting a lot from White, but he never seems to get started.

Anyway, it seems Sri Lanka will win the first time an ODI series in Australia.

So, congratulations to them.

murali bowled well, I think it presents a selection problem for sri lanka. if murali's available then he's gonna be in the reckoning, randiv has bowled really well lately (not his best today) and I genuinely think the only reason mendis isn't in the squad just now is sri lanka are hiding him. if teams are getting to grips with playing him after a few attempts might as well hide him from as many teams as possible until after the biggest event.

SL have bowled extremely well on all the matches so far. If anything this will be extra motivation for the boys for the Ashes.

are you putting that in your sig because you're doubtful or you agree tumtum?

I can see australia possibly winning the ashes without losing a match, unlikely because both teams have suspect batting line ups and I can't see there being more than 1 draw and aus are not so far ahead of england to win 4-0. same with ODIs. and then in India, against a load of better ODI teams you think australia will only lose one match?

Definitely doubtful.

I actually think Australia has more of a chance losing matches in the T20&ODI series against England after the Ashes then either the Ashes or WC.

I can see draws happening. We're getting an el nina summer and pretty much everywhere there is more rain than usual.

That makes it Australia 7th consecutive loss in international matches. The last match they won in any format was in July against Pakistan and the last series they won in any format was in March against NZ. Not the preparations Australia wanted to go for WC and Ashes. They need to find perfect squad before WC.

Yep the Sri Lankans bowlers have been AWESOME - can't praise them enough. Most Aussies fans will be quick to pull out the knives for our team, but geez, credit where it's due I say. I knew Malinga was good, but Kulasekara and Perera were just fantastic last night. So accurate - hitting the top of off stump 90% of the time, or so it looked. Watch Michael Clarke's first 10 balls as an example - ALL on the money.

Starting on Sunday we will only lose a maximum of two matches till after the World Cup. And you can bookmark this post.

Yep fully expect AUS to do this as well.

No question they were brilliant. I just don't get how Siddle and Johnson can go from so much control in SA to this rubbish. McKay is usually good too, so something is going wrong when they hit the Aussie team.

Think our bowlers thought they could blast them away like they did with Pak and WI last year. But SL were up to the task, we should have bowled line & length and given more respect to their batsmen.

Why didn't they do that to Hussey too? Really just a shambles when you say one guy should be playing ODI while you rest the captain to allow him to play Shield cricket. Anyway happy to have Ferguson back in the side, he brings good energy with his batting.

If Lankans finish this in a whitewash, it reminds me the Aus-NZ series before the WC2007. Actually, I feel that Sri Lanka is doing exceptionally well compared to what India and SA did in Australia in ODIs. Having Jayasuriya said that he is still available for selection, I don't think he will fit in team XI in anyways now.

It really just shows that this series was an awful piece of scheduling. Or the India series - take your pick, but having them both before the Ashes was stupid. I think it's got to have affected the overall focus of Australia in this series too. That's not an excuse, I think we'd have lost anyway, but man it doesn't look good when first choice guys are getting random games off here and there.

Exactly we should have converted this into a home Test series which would have been great to watch given how well SL are doing and it would have been much better preparation not to mention another chance to see North and Hussey.
