Geez Johnson is making it hard to keep him in the side. At least Siddle managed to get his economy down. Hauritz with the much needed breakthrough and wicket.

I think it's harder to watch Siddle. You know the short one is coming and you know the full one isn't. At least Johnson's got that cutter. If Siddle had a better skillset, his short ball would even benefit as he could get batsmen to linger on the front foot more.

Australia need a desperate victory in order to avoid relegation. really Johnson is struggling with his line and length.

Yeah Siddle can't seem to get many good bouncers in. He also gets punished very easily in general. It seems his margin for error is smaller than other bowlers. I think he just has a very nice pace and trajectory to hit, so unless he's getting it right, a chest high ball is easy to pull and a half volley will get smacked. Bit like Brett Lee in that way, but without a slower ball and an intimidating reputation. Johnson however seems to get away with a fair bit of loose stuff because he's a bit more awkward to get used to - but of course he bowls more loose balls than Siddle...

Also, thank goodness for Shane Watson. He really is quite a reliable contributor with the ball, and we (as Aussie fans) are starting to take him for granted now that he's put a long injury free streak together. But if he were to go down for the World Cup there will be trouble, because he balances the side very well. He's probably the first guy picked right now.

Lee at least could swing and reverse swing it. His outswinger has brought him a lot of ODI wickets, can't say the same for Siddle. I had high hopes for him after the ODI where he only went for 18 runs but he has been deadset average since then. Like Hilfy he needs to be put into the Test specialist role until he proves he can bowl in 50 over cricket.

LMAO that has got to be the funniest piece of cricket I've ever seen. The easiest of run outs, all he had to do was lolly it to Watson or even walk to the stumps, instead he throws it misses the stumps and hits Watson.

Yeah, I was laughing about that as well when I saw it. The commentator mentioned already that he was out. Clarke is not having a great time lately.

Sri Lanka should get around 230-240 runs.

Yeah for sure, wasn't meaning to belittle Lee. The only real downside Lee had was that when he got it wrong he seemed to go the journey pretty easily like Siddle, but he has/had a lot more going for him that Siddle does. Siddle does NOTHING with the new ball for example like you pointed out. But fair's fair, that last over of his before the 2nd rain break, Sid pulled out a couple of decent slower balls. I didn't think he bowled any. It's a start...

Oh and hope they keep showing that Watson/Clarke thing - awesome. Loved the little stare-of they both had after it, both probably in disbelief really rather than any aggro.

But it reminded me of a random encounter with a ball about 5-10 years back in a Test. Stuey MacGill got a wicket, tossed the ball casually over his shoulder in celebration and it hit Jason Gillespie square in the face :lol He wasn't expecting a ball at all.

Another D/L fail. How can they justify Australia having to score at 6.25 rpo?

It's all about resources, they had 2 overs of their powerplay remaining and they originally thought they had 45 overs to work with not 41 overs hence they only starting upping the run rate at the 40th over.

I think the target is fair enough. Sri Lanka were gonna get 250 odd runs.
