Sri Lankan Tour of Australia, October-November 2010/11

I'll bet you anything that after the innings, the players will say 'a bit 2 paced', 'tennis ball bounce' and 'ball not coming on'. Anytime a team doesn't score quickly that's what happens - it's just a law of the universe :D

I dunno about resting Watson, I think he just didn't look comfortable against Malinga and 16 of his 20 balls were from Malinga. Sometimes it's like that, you cop most of your deliveries from the guy you'd rather not face.

I see Australia lose 2-1 this series for sure. England will be very happy seeing the way Australia have done after Ashes 2009. They are the same team.

Although the current lot is better ODI players then test. That is what I feel

Perera has ripped apart the Aussies. He has done that previously to India and now Australia.

One major problem is Srilanka are not keeping their selection intact.

One series someone plays and other someone else

177/5 after 40 overs at the moment. Australia should be happy if they even get 250 runs from here on.

I really feel that Watson is struggling nowadays. Also Clarke should have batted at his original position and let Marsh take Ponting's spot.

Perera just got his fourth wicket. I've got a feeling that the performance in this series will decide that he will be definitely included in the World Cup squad.

I was expecting a bit more from Kulasekara and Muralitharan. So far they didn't get any wicket.

ZexyZahid it's 182/6 :p

Hussey has played really well. He is really the man right now for Srilankan to pick

Pererra is developing nicely along with Matthews for Sri Lanka. Still think they will need a good batsman to replace Sanga, Jaya and Dillu.

Sangakkara and Dilshan are in some great form thanks to India ;)

Jayawardhane is pretty inconsistent over past 2 years. Kulu is struggling right now with his line and length but Perera has been fantastic.

Where is Angelo Matthews?

Mathews is in the current line up.

I feel Australia have made a mistake of not taking the batting powerplay already with 7 overs to go.

lol at Slater: 'Why is Kulasekera bowling, Perera should be on'. Then Kulasekera gets a wicket. He should worry more about the aussies and their struggles.

Hussey and Perrera weren't that great IMHO. Both were solid yes, but Perrera didn't trouble anyone, apart from the 5 wicket balls. Sounds harsh I know, but he was really the beneficiary of some lazy batting and excellent fielding rather than his brilliance. And Hussey worked it pretty well, but he couldn't lift out of 3rd gear, and only hit one boundary which was a top edgy pull shot that landed between the 2 outfielders. I'm not particularly impressed.

Oh and Mitch Johnson looks awful with bat. Should have taken the powerplay straight after he came in just to get the guy going. He was prodding forward to Murali in over 44 trying to play himself in for the powerplay. Not the way to go.:noway

Was annoyed with all the field changes during that last powerplay too. Took about 35 minutes I think for the last 6 overs to be bowled.

The average chase to win in recent times at the MCG has only been a bit over 200, so it is tough to say where this game is, but I would like to think it's going to be a good one. Early wickets surely held Australia back, but they didn't get bowled out and they kept making runs, if not at the ideal rate. It's a very big ground and estimates should take into account the ability of outfielders to reel the ball in for two, particularly square of the wicket. Mike Hussey scored just 1 boundary in his innings of 78.

Agree. Hussey could have stepped it up a bit and as for Perera - His wickets mainly came from slack batting.

The captain should try a few bowlers here while the batsmen are new, lest he sit back and foster yet another Jayawardene/Sangakkara partnership.

Outswing is a good tactic to Mahela. Might need another slip.

I think that shout might have been both too high and outside off. second might be better.

Hastings looked okay, so has Watson. Could be an important period. More dalliances with technology, less competition plugs!
