@CerealKiller

Mitchell Marsh at 6, will provide some extra firepower with the bat, and another bowling option, and Jason Behrendorff is an excellent, extremely underrated pace option, especially with the new ball.

@ahmedleo414 has a double pick

I ended up returning earlier than expected. My first final pick is Mahmudullah

Stats|Matches|Runs|HS|:bat: Ave|100s/50s|Wkts|BBM|:bwl: Ave|4w/5w
T20 |214|3,873|64*|24.98|0/13|102|3/6|26.09|0/0
From cricinfo:

"An allrounder who bowls tidy offspin and bats in the middle order, Mahmudullah has spent the last three years figuring out how fickle form can be. In late 2012, he was the star who derailed West Indies to their first ODI series defeat in Bangladesh, and was a step away from captaincy. A poor season later, his place was continually questioned and he was even dropped for the 2014 Asia Cup. After another five months, Mahmudullah finally found form and became an automatic choice.

Born in Mymensingh, a district located 115km to the north of Dhaka, Mahmudullah learned his game in his hometown before coming to the capital to take part in the ACC U15 tournament in 2000. He played in the 2004 U19 World Cup at home, and the following year made his first-class debut for Bangladesh A. He also spent part of that year in the MCC Young Cricketers and became a regular club and first-class cricketer back home in the 2005-06 season.

He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2007 and was labeled a limited-overs specialist for some time and he delivered in short bursts, hardly setting the world on fire. But his eight-wicket haul on Test debut (including a five-for in the second innings) against West Indies in 2009 spurred him on as he suddenly averaged 193 with the bat in the ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka later that year.

It got better as he slammed his one and only international hundred, in a one-off Test against New Zealand in Hamilton. The crowd held their breath as he drove the fast bowlers imperiously through the covers, fleetingly drawing comparisons with India's VVS Laxman. His most telling contribution so far has been the 159 runs he made against West Indies in the home ODI series in 2012. He was holding the innings together as well as playing the match-winning role. The next two years were a struggle, but after a reasonable performance against Zimbabwe in the 2014 winter, he confirmed his place in the 2015 World Cup squad."

And lastly, my very final pick is Sabbir Rahman

Stats|Matches|Runs|HS|:bat: Ave|100s/50s
T20 |154|3,202|122|25.82|1/15
His bio from cricinfo:

"Sabbir Rahman shot into the limelight with an 18-ball unbeaten 33 in the gold-medal match of the 2010 Asian Games against Afghanistan. Bangladesh needed 44 from the last five overs of the T20 game, and Sabbir coolly struck three sixes to ensure the country's first gold in the Asian Games itself.

He had earlier turned heads with his big-spinning legbreaks in the Dhaka club scene as well as for the Bangladesh U19 side in the 2010 U19 World Cup, but he chose the Guangzhou International Cricket Stadium to launch himself.

He continued to flourish in T20 cricket for the next two seasons but his lack of runs in first-class and one-day cricket held him back. Finally he was chosen to play for Bangladesh in 2014 in his favoured format, but it wasn't a great start. He made his ODI debut towards the end of the year and although not the finished article nor a proven player at this level, he was chosen in their 2015 World Cup squad.

Born in Rajshahi, Sabbir possesses exceptional fielding skills and is a handy legspinner: he took a six-wicket haul in the 2014-15 Dhaka Premier League. As a batsman he can be a big hitter, but is a better batsman when he tries to play straight and square on the off side."

ahmedleo414 BPL draft:
  1. :os: :ind: :bat: Rohit Sharma
  2. :local: :ban: :bat: Tamim Iqbal
  3. :local: :ban: :ar: Shakib Al Hasan :c:
  4. :local: :ban: :wkb: Mushfiqur Rahim
  5. :os: :pak: :ar: Shoaib Malik
  6. :local: :ban: :bat: Sabbir Rahman
  7. :local: :ban: :ar: Mahmudullah
  8. :os: :afg: :ar: Rashid Khan
  9. :os: :sri: :bwl: Lasith Malinga
  10. :local: :ban: :bwl: Shafiul Islam
  11. :local: :ban: :bwl: Mustafizur Rahman

That completed my BPL T20 team, overall I'm quite happy with how things turned out. I have a good mix of power hitters and strike bowlers. As well as some youth and some experience to go around. Sure the quality of the local players may lack to those in other leagues, but this team has the overseas players also carrying the load and hopefully helping out in any shortcomings of the local players.

I make Rashid Khan into an All round bowler instead of just bowler as I had earlier in the draft. He has enough batting experince in my opinion to be considered a bowling all rounder, especially in T20.

Shoaib Malik was the person I had the most difficulty selecting a position for, due to the fact that he has batted in every single position. I ended up going with 5 because, if we loose a few early wickets, Shoaib can come and steady the team at 5, and he can also smack the ball around the ground in the late game, to get us over the edge.

@Akshay. you have the next pick

I know it's a little out of turn, but I'm going to pick both of my bowlers now because I don't think they're eligible for anyone else, and I don't want people to be held up waiting for my last pick.

:ind: :bwl: Ashish Nehra
162 wickets @ 22.54 (econ: 7.70, 2 4WI, best: 4/10) in 132 matches

Twenty20 cricket came to everyone's favourite grumpy Indian death bowler a decade into his career, but he took to it like a duck to water. Using the crease to change his angles without losing the range for his yorker was an incredibly rare skill, and one which meant he was still worth his place in the Indian national team into his 39th year.

:ind: :bwl: Sreenath Aravind

103 wickets @ 21.77 (econ: 7.85, 5 4WI, best 4/14) in 82 matches

Sometimes you don't need to know why something works - just the fact that it works is enough. Such is the case with my pick of Sreenath Aravind. I don't know exactly what about his bowling made it so effective, but you can't argue with taking a wicket every 16 balls. He joins Cummins, Nehra and Hardik in the pace quartet, backed up by a spin duo of Mishra and Krunal. I'm happy with that bowling attack.

Captain: David Warner // Keeper: Rishabh Pant

:saf: :wkb: Quinton de Kock

5510
runs in 178 inns @33.39, S/R 138.5, 4 100s, HS 126

I built my team keeping him in mind. It was easier to keep him till last as he hasn't played in overseas league other than IPL. He can play long innings and score at a healthy strike rate too. He has a hundred in MSL as well. He will of course be the keeper for my team.
Him and Kohli will form a formidable partnership at the top

MSL Record: 647 runs @40.43, S/R 167 for Cape Town Blitz

That completes my team, very similar to my IPL team

Mzansi Super League XI

:tick:upload_2020-7-9_1-32-41.jpeg

Of course he had to be in my team. Freddie can hit it big when the team wants, he can frighten the batsmen with his pace, and most of all, his presence is just enough to bring the match winning vibe. He is a wicket taking bowler, as his bowling strike rate of 16.9 suggests.

  10. :os: :pak: :bwl: Umar Gul
  11. :os: :afg: :bwl: Mujeeb ur Rehman
  12. :local: :eng: :ar: Benny Howell
This is a really really strong team. Almost all the roles needed in a T20 lineup are filled.

  • Opening Batsman who can hit from ball one.... :tick:
  • An opening batsman who can do both, hit out or play the long game.... :tick:
  • Freakish game changers.... :tick:
  • Wicket keeper who can bash all around the park.... :tick:
  • People made for the high pressure games..... :tick:
  • A good swing bowler.... :tick:
  • Economical spinner.... :tick:
  • Attacking spinner.... :tick:
  • Attacking pacer.... :tick:
  • Backup bowling options.... :tick: :tick: :tick:
Also, I wanted to put Benny Howell in the team but just couldn’t find his place.

Moving Hussey and Dhoni one spot up because they obviously can bat at those spots and my next pick is better suited at 7

Colin De Grandhomne is my next pick. His strike rate in T20s is above 160 and is great in the death overs

Neptune's Super Smash Team
1. :nzf: :bat: Martin Guptill
2. :aus: :ar: Shane Watson :os:
3. :nzf: :bat: Kane Williamson
4. :nzf: :bat: Ross Taylor
5. :aus: :bat: Michael Hussey :os:
6. :ind: :wkb: M S Dhoni :c::os:
7. :nzf: :ar: Colin De Grandhomne
8. :nzf: :ar: Mitch Santner
9. :nzf: :bwl: Mitchell McCleneghan
10.:aus::bwl: Shaun Tait :os:
11.:nzf::bwl: Ish Sodhi

I'll take Rovman Powell as my last pick. Many people saw him as the next Dre Russ, something he has yet to consistently emulate, but he's handy with both bat and ball. In my team he's there more for the finishing overs as a batsman rather than a genuine bowling option, though.

Qpee's Caribbean Calypso Cricketers

1. :jam: Chris Gayle :ar:
2. :tat: Evin Lewis :bat:
3. :nz: Brendon McCullum :bat: :os: (C)
4. :saf: JP Duminy :ar: :os:
5. :tat: Nicholas Pooran :wkb:
6. :jam: Rovman Powell :ar:
7. :wi: Rahkeem Cornwall :ar: (There is no Antigua flag in the smiley list...)
8. :ind: Bhuvi Kumar :bwl: :os:
9. :pak: Mohammad Irfan :bwl: :os:
10. :tat: Samuel Badree :bwl:
11. :jam: Krishmar Santokie :bwl:

The top three are world-class batsmen and are given license to attack from the start. Even if a wicket or two falls, McCullum and Duminy have it in them to steer things in the right direction while keeping things ticking over. Pooran in the middle overs with someone like Duminy with him is ideal, and then Rovman and Cornwall to have fun at the end.

After the first 7 though, count the batting goodbye. Still, with that sort of bowling attack...this team can defend low totals with ease. With Santokie saved for the beginning and the end, Badree bowling unchanged from the first or second over, Irfan and Bhuvi with Cornwall/Gayle/Duminy/Powell in the middle overs, this is also a tough bowling lineup to face.

I like my team. Obviously I wish I had Russell and Pollard, but them's the drafts for you. You guys can have Bravo and Narine, but damn I wanted Pollard and Russel. Thank goodness I had the first pick, I might not even have gotten Gayle.

I considered Shimron Hetmeyer in the middle at one point, but I'm more impressed with his ODI stats than T20 and T10 stats. I also considered Sheldon Cottrell very early on but by the time I realised I didn't actually pick him, I already had my bowling attack more or less set.

I intentionally didn't pick players like Ali Khan or Hayden Walsh Jr. because it wouldn't have been fair to the others.

Just @Rabbit Hood to finish his lineup now.

@ahmedleo414 I would love to see how the sim turns out. Do it!

EDIT: Oh, damn, forgot a captain. McCullum leads the squad.

What could have made this draft harder, was that except for the IPL, all players picked should have played in another league other than their home league. That would have seen some radically different teams from a few participants.

Even then though, except for Parkinson, my team would’ve been exactly the same.
