Tamil Music/Movie Thread

My view is - I dont care much about the society. As long as you live according to what other people say or feel, you cant live a happy life (in most cases).

Exactly my thinking and this was how I was, till a year ago. " I just don't care for the society because it's my life ", is what exactly I said & believed. Remember Sai, you would also might quote at this during some point in the life. ;)

Fine, I agree with you that I don't agree to it & it's not universal bug. :p

Just watched 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' in theatre. Awesome film! Loved it so so much. Simbhu was a major surprise. Really good performance! Trisha looked gorgeous throughout the film. The film was so intense that it leaves you with a lump in your throat and heart. I was able to accept the climax because I felt it was more realistic and things are not so picture perfect in this world. But one thing for sure, Gautham Menon is an AMAZING NARRATOR AND PRESENTER of his movies. His songs and visuals are just a mind blowing delight to watch. I am watching this movie again for sure. I actually didnt feel it was slow in the 2nd half because 1) I knew about the pace and 2) I felt most of the scenes were needed to portray the respective characters and the issue

Rating: 4.5/5

I agree with you 100% there and I already watched it twice in theatre.Because it felt so real I suggested before that it must be some ones real life story.

The film is inspired in bits from the director (Gautham Menon)'s own life story. He was a mechanical engineer (just like Simbhu's character in VTV) who wanted to make films. While he was an assistant director, he fell in love with a girl. But I guess their story ended happily with him marrying her and having kids.

Gautham has had it easy in a way that he has been able to incorporate his own life so easily into his films. His last film, Varanam Aayiram, was again his tribute to his own dad who had passed away just before the start of the film. His heroes will be mostly mechanical engineers from the upper class areas of Chennai. But his films rocks because they are so enjoyable to watch.

Bump!

Gave a listen to 'Bale Pandiya'. Excellent music! Really light, melodious, good, quality Tamil music. Usually they are overloaded on dabba-kuthu or go for that weird western rock thing but this, this is great. Almost, Rahman-esque. I especially like the song 'Happy'.

Give it a whirl guys!

WARNING!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!!!

At any cost avoid crappiest crap 'SURA'.Oh god!,this is too much of a punishment.
It is easily the worst film of Vijay. So much for his so called 50th film. All he does through out the movie was preaching viewers his political views and flying around like Superman. This movie made me even hate thamanna.

Sura proves that Vijay's formula is dead and buried. He has announced that he will be changing his style of films from his next one. If he doesnt keep up with his words, Vijay's career will end within his next 5 films. His politically inclined dialogues are just so insipid. He just doesnt have the kind of personality for people to be calling him as "savior of the poor, do-gooder, etc". He has a personality of being a recluse, introvert, keeping it within himself, not caring about others much, etc. Vadivelu's comedy was dull. No chemistry at all between Vijay and Tamannah. Parents guide and advice you to go in the right way when you are down in the dumps. But Vijay's father is wierd in the sense that he himself is helping his son dig his own grave.

Listened to the songs of "Raavanan" (the Tamil version of Raavan). Excellent songs! For people who listen to the Tamil version first, they will absolutely love it. For those who listened to the Hindi first, after repeated hearings they will love the Tamil version (also because selection of singers in Tamil is far better, like Benny Dayal, Shankar Mahadevan). Rahman delivers another masterclass with Mani in Raavanan.

Sai have you heard Bale Pandiya songs yet? LISTEN TO EM! They're great!

Here's my favorite. Just makes me feel so happy ;)

YouTube - Bale Pandiya (2010) - Happy

I liked 3 songs (including that 'Happy' song). I have to hear them a few more times to start loving them maybe. I love the usage of singers for this album. The likes of Naresh Iyer, Mano, Vijay Yesudas, Malaysia Vasudevan, etc just add a lot of quality to the album.

Also listen to Yuvan's latest album "Baana Kathadi". They are pretty decent too. The one problem with Yuvan is, he tries to create his own signature style tune in all his albums but he fails at it a little whereas Harris succeeds big time at it (people love his signature style).

Rediscovered 'New' from 2004. Really some of Rahman's best work in this album. Love every song!

Check it out...

Singam - i was thoroughly entertained throughout the movie.
it was pacy, had good comedy and action, good punch dialogues etc etc.
timepass movie which can be watched anytime. ;)

Vettaikaran - well, i loved the comedy and the first hour.
then it got really cliched and repetitive. but the villain Salim Ghouse gave
a really good performance and that got me attracted again.
oh and not to mention, i watched vettaikaran immediately after SURA. so now you know, why i rate it so highly. :p

btw, "naa adichcha taanga maate, naalu maason tunga maate, modhi paaru vidu poyi sera maate" is the best lyrics i've heard
in my life ! :D
