Tamil Music/Movie Thread

I heard VV for the first time. As some have said, I didn't like it at the very first listening. Lets see whether I also start to like it after hearing for some more times. ARR's songs always do this, doesn't it? :p Samething happened to me for Shivaji.

How about that, Tamil Padam? Is it a comedy? Someone was saying that they have put up that lollu sabba as a movie. I am not sure though.

True. Listen to it 4-5 times, I am sure you will start listing a handful of favorite tracks that you love from the film. Everybody has been doing the same thing (in orkut and internet forums).

Today they telecasted the audio launch of the film that took place in London (along with visuals of two songs). MIND BLOWING! There is nobody who can beat Gautham Menon when it comes to picturising the songs. We are in for a visual treat! I cant wait for the film to release (although its a Simbhu film). The trailor of the film also ROCKS!!! Hope the film isnt delayed as much as the audio.

Check out the trailor here

Yeah, the problem with this movie is it has Simbhu and Trisha as the leads.I hated Simbhu since the much hyped Vallabhan and started to hate Trisha after all that crap in Kuruvi.(Abhiyum Naanum was good bcse of Prakash Raj)

VV album is just mind blowing.Hossanna my Fav.Rahman has once again shows hes miles ahead of any other composer in the country. And btw Sai,I guess people will start liking Simbhu after this movie.I used to hate Dhanush during his earlier days, but his story selection has been excellent of late and hes being liked by most now.I'm looking forward to watching VV and Aayirathil oruvan.I've been waiting for AO for ages.

Infact Trisha has moved on to some good films after Abhiyum Naanum. She was bad in Kuruvi but she did it just for the Ghilli team. And in this film (VTV), she looks damn gorgeous. Gautham Menon is known to show his heroines in a very eye candy and beautiful fashion (remember Jothika in Kaakha Kaakha, Vettaiyadu and Sameera Reddy in Varanam Aayiram).

From the stills, Simbhu also seems to have changed track. He is doing a film sans his usual punch dialogues, over the top scenes and unnecessary stunts in the name of dancing, etc. Both of them are trying a different film for their career.

I am also guessing that Simbhu will be liked by people after this film. Danush has been doing very well in recent times with his film selection. Aayirathil Oruvan seems to be a good film for all those who love different cinema. If you are a masala movie fan, you will hate it coz there is nothing, it seems. Also there are a lot of disturbing scenes in the film, I hear.

Man, why this ARR is such a legend! :hpraise He has a unique way of attracting his listeners. Yes, the same pattern. I didn't like the songs when I heard it for first time.

Now I am repeatedly hearing,

1) Anbil Avan song - IT ROCKS! :banana2
2) Omana Penne song
3) Hossana song.

" Rocking songs ", is what I feel now. Except Roja & Thiruda Thiruda ( I was a very small kid that time :p ), I haven't liked the ARR songs during the first time listening. But after 2-3 times of listening, .... .... .... No words to say!

Yes, this is certainly not the best of ARR but certainly one of the rocking albums.

Like many of you here i'm already in love with ARR's new album. Giving it my first spin through atm and i'm loving it already. Hosanna is amazing.

Currently at Mannipaya and it's really good. Fantastic, slow song. Amazing. What a genius...

Watched Aayirathil Oruvan today.Phew! WHAT A MOVIE ??!! One of the best ever Tamil movies I've ever watched.I would rate it 4.5/5 at the least.Hats off to Selvaraghavan!I would recommend anyone to watch it.Money worth. And seems the movie becomes more interesting every time you watch the movie.

"AR Rahman is a highly dangerous legalised drug" (Credits: A person in orkut)! Gets really addictive of his songs everytime. VTV album is his finest work in South Indian cinema in recent times.

@ naresh: Yeah heard rave reviews of AO. But I hear that its disturbing at quite a few places and some controversial scenes added. Just wanted to know coz such films are a NO-NO for my family. I have to watch them alone if thats the case. I am waiting for Kutty (I like Danush's recent selection of scripts) and Nanayam (a rare bank robbery theme in Tamil with Prasanna, Sibi and SPB).

Yeah man I was too excited while I typed that post. You cant watch the movie with the family. But if they are sensible enough to understand the necessity of those scenes, its ok.But one cant afford to miss this movie just for the sake of those scenes.I'm raring to watch the movie again soon. The more you see the more you understand and enjoy the movie.

Seems Kutty hasnt set the world ablaze. Its a mediocre film, thats quite entertaining in the first half, but it becomes boring after the intermission.Havent watched it though.

I hear that Kutty is being declared a hit (Sources: Sify) while AO is dropping on the collections after the initial boom in advance booking collections. Tamil Nadu has always given more support to family oriented films, and Kutty will be no exception

Yes, now I am liking all the songs in that. Wow, what a pattern. First I liked none, then 3 songs and now all the songs. :D Hopefully, the story is good too. Jillunu Oru Kadhal had amazing music hit but story flop. I am also listening to ARR's another album - Couples Retreat.

Goa is releasing on Jan 29th (6 days from now). Asal is coming out Feb 12th and hopefully VTV is coming the same weekend too. Three big movies coming out in the next 3-4 weeks. I am very keen on Goa and VTV. Goa looks to be a rollicking comedy.

Bala wins National award for the Best Director for his 'Naan Kadavul'. Although I dont like his movies for the over-realistic portrayal (which turns off family watching), its a matter of pride that he has won the award on behalf of TN.

Goa is TERRIBLE! Major disappointment from Venkat Prabu. Cant believe he made a film like Goa after making CH-28 and Saroja. Except for Premji who entertains at some scenes (he also overdoes his combo with VP), the rest just sucked. Nayanthara and Silambarasan make cameo appearences, and Silambarasan's Manmadhan act in the end gave something for people to smile about in an otherwise boring movie. Sneha looks excellent in the movie but VP introduces her only in the last 35-40 mins of the film:eek: The other girl, Pia gets more limelight but she cant act!

Waiting to watch 'Tamil Padam' which is said to be a complete spoof movie of Tamil cinema as a whole (it seems Rajni, Vijay and Simbhu are the worst hit by this spoof movie as all jokes centre mostly around these people).:laugh

@Sai:I heard my classmates say Goa was hilarious.Seems Asal is very good, according to my friends who watched the first show today.Nanayam and Porkalam are decent movies too.And yea,Im too eager to watch Tamil Padam. Will be a good entertainer.
