Any upcoming tamil or hindi movies to watchout for?

Lots of good ones coming up. There are two big ones "Goa" and "Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya" that will release on Jan 29th and Feb 12th respectively. Goa is a comedy entertainer that stars Sneha, Premji, Jai, etc from the director of Chennai-28 and Saroja. Music by Yuvan has released and is already becoming a chartbuster. "Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya" stars Silambarasan and Trisha and is directed by Gautham Menon (director of Minnale, Kaakha Kaakha, Vettaiyadu Vilayadu, Varanam Aayiram). Music is by AR Rahman. The music is releasing on Tuesday (although all the songs have leaked out to the internet and ppl are listening to it). The music is just so eagerly expected since its Rahman and also his first combination with Gautham (whose combo with Harris Jeyaraj was a huge hit). Its going to be a love story with the usual Gautham Menon touch (Gautham's movies all have the Hollywood look and feel to them). I have already heard the songs. THE SONGS ARE FRIGGIN' FANTASTIC! Not Rahman's best, but the songs are sensational for recent Tamil films taken into account.

Another one is "Asal" with Ajith, Sameera Reddy and Bhavna coming up. The songs are poor and nothing great. But since its an Ajith movie, people expect that the movie will be good.

Asal songs were damn bad. Only one time I heard & I never bothered to hear again. Movies these days are going crap in tamil. I am looking forward to Goa.

Only films of Ajith and Vijay are getting crap. Others are doing good films. Rajni's "Endhiran" is expected big, Kamal is always a great actor. Surya has done good films like VA in recent times.

I am looking forward to Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya. Being a huge fan of the Gautham style of film making and also this time with the genius 'Rahman's songs, cant resist the temptation to watch the film. And there's Raavan (Ashokavanam in Tamil) with the master (Maniratnam) coming back. So Tamil cinema has a lot to look forward to in 2010.

Yeah. Yuvan has hit a good patch now with the songs of Paiyaa and Goa. The "Thuli Thuli" song from Paiyaa is so good.

Listened to Rahman's "Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya". First impression was worst for me. But Rahman songs take time getting used to, and by the third listen I was loving almost all the songs. SUPERB ALBUM! Welcome back Rahman to Tamil (long time, he had forgotten Tamil in favor of Bollywood and world music). Nobody there to beat the Boss!

Wow, Aadhavan is still running in theaters in Chennai! It was just released when I was leaving India around Sept. Must be a good film.

Anyone see it? It's Surya and he's one of the few REALLY good young actors in Tamil cinema. I like Vijay but man he has the same role in every goddam film.

Aadhavan was a good entertainer. Not a great one, but certainly a good timepass film. Vadivelu was at his best and he rocked with Surya.

I used to be a huge fan of Vijay (I was even part of the admin team that managed a website for Vijay, VFN). But I have lost interest in him recently because of his selection of films and his non-committal stance in taking up different storylines. On the contrary, Simbhu (Silambarasan) is taking that different route that Vijay ought to have taken by now. He is doing 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya' with Gautham Menon and is directing his own film 'Vaaliban' (in the likes of Manmadhan and Vallavan). I think he will be a better bet in the coming days.

Adhavan was not a good movie. :sleep Kandasamy.. Vettaikaran :doh :doh I always looked forward to Kamal, Vikram & Surya movies, but late movies of them just lacked quality. Many unknown movies are coming up too. The last good movie I remembered watching was, Eeram & Unnaipol Oruvan.

Since, it's ARR in VV, I am also eager for that. :banana2

Kanthasami was pure and utter tripe. Was really disappointing as Vikram usually pulls off these types of movies well. Anniyan was amazing, will remain one of my favorite tamil movies.

Kanthasami is supposed to be released before Sivaji.If it were released before Sivaji it were considered a good movie,since both had related theme.Just heard VV songs by Rahman for the first time,as usual doesn't like it.It takes some time to get in your head.

Same thing happened to me. First time I heard the songs, didnt like them except for one (Hosanaa). But after the 3rd listen, I was dancing to almost all of the songs. There is a Malayalam song in the album "Aaromale" - WOW! Its a Pink Floyd type of song (for those who know him!) and its pulled off superbly by Rahman. Manippaya is a great melody from Rahman and Shreya Goshal. These two are my top two picks right now.

Sivaji was basically a "Shankar trademark" (the story of corruption at the highest levels). Shankar had already done it before Sivaji. So even if Kandhasamy had released before Sivaji, it would not have made that much of a difference. Sivaji ran that well purely due to the Rajni effect and the songs.

Aadhavan was not as good as Surya's earlier films, but as an entertainer, it was pretty decent. Some movies you watch for the quality and difference, some you watch it for timepass entertainment. Aadhavan was of the 2nd category, and it did a pretty decent job (though not comparable to the likes of Ravikumar's earlier films like Muthu, Padayappa, Thenali, Avvai Shanmugi, etc)

Yeah I'm now addicted to "Omana penne" and "Hosaana" ,"Mannippaaya" is good.As a malayali I found "Aromale" interesting.Really "Omana penne" is already got inside my head.

Ha ha... Everyone is going through the same feelings. First time, they dont like it at all but as it goes on it gets addicted into their system. But the album for sure is a super one from Rahman and Gautham Menon. Hope Gautham continues his lovely picturisation trend because these songs deserve it.

Its a rare adventure type film in Tamil cinema, probably the first of its kind. The movie has been in the making for 3 yrs and everyone who has seen the rushes and previews are raving so much about the film. The film has released today, and go and check out the reviews on Rediff and Sify. The reviews are glowing. I HAVE TO WATCH THE FILM!! Have been waiting for it for sometime now.
