Watched Aayirathil Oruvan for what I think was my 2nd time, such a good film, feel bad for those who supposedly couldn't understand the film, which in itself is just mind boggling really.

Yep. Selvraghavan is my all time favorite director. All of his films are great!

Yes! He also became a big Bollywood guy with 'Force' (the Hindi remake of Kaakha Kaakha starring John Abraham and Genelia). His name is Vidyut Jamwal. He won a lot of awards for his villiany act in Force.

He's a martial artist. His intro was mind blowing in Billa 2.

By looking at the trailer, I think Thuppaki is a snake and mongoose game between hero and villain like Singam.

I heard that he was planning on making a sequel to it(Aayirathil Oruvan), with Dhanush playing the lead or something.

Yep. It looks like that! That's the oft repeated formula for action thriller masala genre in Tamil cinema. Murugadoss packaging, Harris music and Vijay's presence will add freshness to it

Watched Pizza, a simple story saved by a great screenplay. Twists and turns are like hairpin bends. Climax twist was a 'U' turn. The excellent narration makes you sit in the corner of your seats till the end.

Best thriller of the year. A must watch in theaters guys. Rating 4.5/5 :cheers

Kinda behind on the recent movies, only really saw Maatraan. Think I missed a Vikram film, that's right, Thandavam was it? Any good?

Thaandavam is a good entertainer. Saw Sundharapandian, fine commercial village movie.

Out of the movies released late, Pizza is a must watch.

I'll give a view some time today then. Saw Sundharapandian a few weeks back actually, good film, Sasi was a class act as usual.

Sundarapandian was a stale and typical village commercial movie. Wonder how that guy Sasikumar thinks himself as a hero, and how the audience endure him and watch his movies? And it had a very lame twist in the end that I predicted almost half way through the film.

Some films you just watch for timepass. This film is a mediocre commercial popcorn film. Can't say it's bad.
It really tasted some success in collections.

Although I agree that the story is lame and predictable in the second half.

Anyone watched English Vinglish, is it good for Tamil audience?

Its more like a drama.Did not get a movie feel.It fully revolves around Sridevi alone. But the one scene where the theater erupted was Thala's entry )

Been reading up on "Conversations with Mani Ratnam" book and have been thinking a lot about Mani Ratnam movies in the past week. So I just thought I would have a mini discussion with you guys here about your favorite Mani film.

What's your favorite 'Mani Ratnam film'? And the most memorable moment/scene from Mani's films? For me, my most favorite Mani Ratnam film has to be Thalapathy... It had the Nayagan traces, but I thought it was more raw, action packed and a brilliant weaving of class and commercial cinema. The most memorable moment has to be that scene in Anjali where Shamili comes to Arjun and Anu's room and sees her brother's wounds, touches it and starts crying. I have cried buckets and buckets out for that one single scene, and even today it evokes the same emotion in me. I feel that's the most memorable moment of a Mani Ratnam film, and picking that memorable moment is a very tough decision when you have a film maker like Mani.

Ok, enough of my Mani eugolisation, onto you guys....:D

My most favourite film of Mani sir is Alaipayuthey. The most favourite scene is in that film when Maddy searches for Shalini everywhere road by road and till the climax when shalini says-"Pondatti poita......","Pondatti poita jolliya irukalam nu pathiya",just shedding few tears as i type this.I cry so badly when i see this film.A perfect example of a Husband-Wife relationship.

Nayagan will be my all time favourite of Mani's film. It's a classic really. Last scene was epic. :thumbs

I just had a look at his filmography or whatever and it left a feeling of 'what the hell have you been all these years, kid?' 'cus I've really only seen 2 of his films, Thalapathy and Raavanan. Liked both, but Thalapathy was a lot better I would say, really liked Rajini's role, different from his usual mass ways ya' know. ;)

Favorite scene, ehm, when Shobana tells Rajini that she can't marry him? I only really remember 2 scenes from the movie, that one and obviously the climax, so I will go with that. I do remember it being raw and real though, different from what we see these days where the two in love just say "well too kerplucking bad, we'll just have to elope off to our friends house". :p

Need to step up my movie game for sure, Mani Ratnam and Balu Mahendra(another director that everyone tends to love, but one that I haven't seen much of) movies here on should do it. ;)
