Tamil Music/Movie Thread

I just had a look at his filmography or whatever and it left a feeling of 'what the hell have you been all these years, kid?' 'cus I've really only seen 2 of his films, Thalapathy and Raavanan. Liked both, but Thalapathy was a lot better I would say, really liked Rajini's role, different from his usual mass ways ya' know. ;)

Favorite scene, ehm, when Shobana tells Rajini that she can't marry him? I only really remember 2 scenes from the movie, that one and obviously the climax, so I will go with that. I do remember it being raw and real though, different from what we see these days where the two in love just say "well too kerplucking bad, we'll just have to elope off to our friends house". :p

Need to step up my movie game for sure, Mani Ratnam and Balu Mahendra(another director that everyone tends to love, but one that I haven't seen much of) movies here on should do it. ;)

Are you serious???? You haven't watched 'Nayagan', 'Mouna Raagam', 'Roja', 'Bombay', 'Agni Natchathiram', 'Alaipayuthey', 'Kanathil Muthamittal', 'Ayutha Ezhuthu', etc? Dude - you're seriously missing out! Start with Nayagan (even if you're a Godfather fan, Nayagan is quite different and completely kick ass). Its among the Top 100 films of all time (as rated by Time).

Wonder how that guy Sasikumar thinks himself as a hero, and how the audience endure him and watch his movies? And it had a very lame twist in the end that I predicted almost half way through the film.

Acting doesn't require fairness. He suited the role quite well. So audience accepted it. Not like Porali. :thumbs

^Awesome song there. Thanks for sharing.

Its not fairness. If that was the case, I wouldn't have been a fan of Rajnikanth, Dhanush, Vijay, etc. Sasi was good in Subramaniyapuram. But once he started being hero, he started being irritating. He was passable in Nadodigal, but apart from that, I couldn't bear him much.

Dudeeeee, we like support the same people, noice. ;)

Nope, but I will get to all of them though, eventually. Will see Nayagan tonight and get back to you, I'm sure I'll like it.

Love this. Good lyrics too.

"Club le Mubb le thiriyira pombala
Ennadi nadakuthu senthamizh naatula
Ladies ellarukkum vanakamunga
Ladies maanam parakuthunga!

Did you finish 'Nayagan'? How was it?

Hearing all sorts of wierd theories on 'Thuppaki' after its postponement to Diwali day. Some say its because the movie is bad and so if flop talk spreads, the Telugu version might be affected. Some say that the producers/distributors are supremely confident after watching the end product that it can take on any competition (from Poda Podi locally, and from Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar in the overseas territory, which all release the same Diwali day). I still feel Thuppaki should not be clashing with these two Hindi films the same day overseas. Overseas these days is a rapidly growing territory for Indian films. You recover a good chunk of your investment from overseas markets. Karan Johar films like KANK, My Name is Khan, etc were flops in India but due to its blockbuster status overseas, are now classified as "superhits" overall.

It had to be a Friday night, fantastic film, glimpses of Godfather here and there, but I really don't mind that tbh, as long as the end product is good that is and the product here was very very good.

So, what's my next mission? :p

Ethineechal's first look looks great. Awesome artwork.
The music is scored by Anirudh. It'll be released this month.
The album contains a song sung by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Goshal!
Much waiting for the next set of addictive songs after '3'. :cheers

I knew you would like Nayagan....

Try 'Roja' next.... Of course, should I say that "watch the entire film with all its music"?:p Its one of the best soundtracks in the world, I would say! And the film is excellent on its own too

I don't find Sivakarthikeyan to suit any hero role other than that of a comic hero... His performance in "Manam Kothi Paravai" is an example. You will laugh when you see him. When you have a comedy streak in you (either looks, personality, etc), you won't cut it out as a hero even if you try comedy films where you are the lead actor.

We all want our hero to have some serious-ness in him, and some emotions in him. Rajni might have entertained as the comic hero in the first half of Annamalai, but its that "thigh hitting" cry for revenge that he does at Sarathbabu's house that is more remembered.

Alright, get back to you in a few days time.

Agreed, I reckon he could give Santhanam a real run for his money for the top comedian spot if he buckled down and became a full-time comedian. Even though it wasn't a whole lot, he was beast in 3, laughed every time he was on screen.

Thuppakki premier show tomorrow (Monday) night at 8:30pm. Very excited after a long long time for a Vijay film (was not this excited for Nanban because 3 Idiots was a cult classic, and remakes always can't recreate the original). I always enjoy commercial films as long its not overdose... And the songs have caught up with me pretty big, especially "Google Google" and "Kutti Puli Kootam".

If Murugadoss delivers, this film will definitely be a stupendous success. He returns to make a more masala film after a deviation in 7AM Arivu. Sneaky feeling is, he has made the right decision and a good one....

Shocking article in Kumudham for Vijay fans. Sorry fr the bad quality. I found this in a Vijay hate fb page. But the article is real(Published in Kumudham)
