Tamil Music/Movie Thread

It's not liked by some. Mixed reviews. Will check out if time arrives.

Yeah, I think it's just one of those movies, you either love it or you hate it, no middle ground.

'Paradesi' is getting exceptional/classic reviews from people who have watched it so far. Looks like the Bala magic is back after a wasted effort in 'Avan Ivan'.

But I still don't approve his so-called cheap and disgusting publicity tactic of beating up people in an attempt to show them how to act. That 'reality in the making of Paradesi' video was a cheap and disgusting tactic, and it made me lose lot of respect for Bala (already my respect for him was no too high). But I will watch this film purely for the reviews, NOT FOR BALA, the psycho!

Well tbf, Avan Ivan was an attempt at something different, not your typical dark/gritty Bala film...

Anyone heard Club le Mabbu le Album tamil song??

It is a such a great piece of song by:-

He had done the title song in Ethir neechal film....

I'm bored of seeing Ajith in those 'Billa' type coat/suit costumes. Its high time he stops using those same getups and gets back to trying out different outlooks.

He has been in 'Billa' hangover for ages now.

I never watch Tamil movies because I just don't think they are very good. However, I watched 'Kannathil Muthamittal' (A Peck On The Cheek) last week. Very good :). I thought at times it was unsure whether it was a political commentary or an emotional drama which sort of tore me as a viewer because I wasn't sure what it was. But overall, a very good story, with some decent (not spectacular) acting.

There are some good movies coming out in Tamil these days. Movies like "Pizza", "Nadula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom" etc are very good ones.

Watched "Paradesi" yesterday. Frankly, felt like why I watched this film in a theatre. Terribly depressing! If you wanted to improve the lives of these tea plantation workers, you can rather do something for them financially rather than show their depressing plight in movies. The movie from start till 20 minutes is a painful attempt at being funny, and then it gets into full time depression mode. The second half can numb you with depression, and
the ending is so painful and leaves you with no hope

Bala confirms that his psychotic brain works well only when he makes such psychotic films. Romba adipatturukkaapla!

Haven't seen the film yet, but it seems rather dumb to go see a Bala film and not expect to come out heavy-hearted. :p

----------

It's like the people who go to a Gautham Menon film and after whine about the use of English in it... that sort of thing.

Its not about being heavy hearted. A heavy heart can happen with something thats really emotional. But here, its just depressing torture of people in the name of reality. And it goes on and on and on and on....

One big positive in the movie is Athaarva's performance. SPLENDID! He was the reason why I didn't leave the theatre mid-way. And Dhansikaa too. Didn't know who dubbed for her but it was very good. Athaarva, I thought, won't be that big an actor just like his dad Murali, but with just one movie he proves me mighty wrong. If he picks the right films, he can be 5x bigger and better than his dad.
