The Australian Football code battle AFL/NRL/Soccer

To be fair, there are more people in Queensland & NSW than in the rest of Oz tho.
Really?

So adding up

WA
South Australia
Northern Territory
Victoria
Tasmania

There is still more people in those 2 states alone? Doubt it.

Calm down, geez. I dont know where you got your statistics from but Fox Sports reported NRL memberships and crowd attendances were down.

And did you just say Rugby League was popular in Victoria!?!?!?!?!? ahahahahahaha

Would any other Victorian like to inform him on how "popular" League is in Victoria!:p

Its more popular in Victoria since Melbourne had won it. There was about 25 thousand down at the Tesltra dome first week of the season, a lot of people showed up for the state of origin and its always a sell out at Olympic park.... There was also a pretty big parade when Melbourne got back from winning the GF.

NRL is growing in Victoria and QLD, but memberships in Sydney are probably down since the last 2 GF's have been just plain scum. But from 04-06/07 crowds attendances were only raising.

BTW I got my statistics around 06 by constant reports about how happy the NRL have been about growing attendances and in Big League, it has crowd stats.

Yuh-huh. Check for yourself.

NSW: 6,532,459
QLD: 3,627,816 (total: 10,160,275)

Vic: 4,828,968
WA: 1,909,751
SA: 1,502,397
Tas: 470,272
NT: 197,590 (total: 8,908,978)

Even if you include ACT as non-NRL country (sorry Raiders) there's still more in NSW & QLD.

LOL, WA is the biggest state in Australia. AFL is like a religion in Victoria as well. Only New South Wales and Queensland like everyone has said before follow that! sport

Only in terms of area tho. Most of it's desert. There are over three times as many actual people in New South Wales.

ACT is not AFL town, we were playing Indoor Cricket last night and on the two tvs one was on the rugby union and the other was on the rugby league, one person tryed to change it to AFL and got told to !@#$ off

Yeah I wonder why....

Theres no AFL team in that ditch.

If you changed the channel on the TVs here to League from AFL then your going to get told to &*# off as well.

NSW and QLD arent the only ones that follow League.

Probably about 1/3 people in NSW follow League, same with Queensland and probably about 1/8 in Victoria.

Soccer is a one-dimensional game with no variety.

NRL is a second rate game which is to stop and stop which isn't actually a game of football but instead a game of big fat men tackling eachother non-stop.

AFL is a fast flowing game which is better to watch then any other sport in the world and it has combined the qualities that both Soccer & NRL have.

Winner = AFL.

Also, plenty of people in NSW love AFL. Not as much as NRL but the state diffenately isn't Anti-AFL.

I lived in Melbourne for 13 years and only saw 2 rugby fields.

Any Aussie who judges this is biased, AFL is a more free flowing game but NRL is tougher and requires more muscular fitness as AFL requires cardio
