The Barclays Premiership

Alliadiere netted a lot of goals last season, but it was in the Championship. As we all know the Premiership level of football is much higher. It's a great signing for Derby though nonetheless. They have a class strike force at the moment lol.

He did very well for Middlesbrough it seems, so will be very welcome at Derby. I don't know how many games he will get though as their attack is looking awesome!

Tom Soares is a decent player and will be a good capture for Ipswich. Good little player. Strange to see Valencia wanting Cech but I don't know if they will let him leave, he's a big player for Chelsea. Leighton Baines might be going to Milan? Quality. :D

Great update and very nice clean presentation, Jack.

Cech to Valencia? Baines to Milan? Flamini to Lazio? Some weird transfers going on. How did Derby become so rich lol? Lol at McCarthy, the spaz.

Really strange transfers. Shows how much the teams have improved. Valencia wanting Cech its an good transfer. But Milan wanting Baines is really strange. You will get much better left backs than Baines.

Quality update Treva.

How did Derby become so rich lol?

They aren't. They are the 26th richest club in England, worth ?21million. I guess they have got a lot of money to spend due to a few things:

- They finished 15th in the Prem, therefore giving them a bit more money than expected.

- They won the League Cup, giving them probably near ?1million

- Then they have TV Rights for the season which will be up near ?25million I reckon

- Plus whatever they get for playing in Europe, which I guess is quite a bit.

They are certainly a club on the rise.

No idea about Baines, but I doubt he'd be a started at AC Milan. He has had an ok past 2 seasons, but it's probably because he is quite young and they believe they can turn him into a great player.

Cech to Valencia... I dont think Chelsea will let that one go through. Some interesting transfers and good to see a club like Derby starting to do better :)

Cech is one of the best keepers in the world, so its no surprise that Valencia want him, now that Canizares is at the end of his career, and with Hildebrand proving highly unreliable. But Cech should expect to be a lot busier in Spain, because of the more attacking nature of the game in La Liga. Valencia have a good defence though.

In-game he played 23 games last season and has now been released. Looks like his career is over, so no wonder they want Cech.

Live - Community Shield

livetextbh3.jpg

Liverpool vs Portsmouth

livetext2jx6.jpg

1300: Welcome to live coverage the first game of the new season.
Premier League winners Liverpool take on FA Cup winners Portsmouth in the
Community Shield.

Last year was an epic, Manchester United taking the lead, then Arsenal
making it 2-1 with 13 minutes to go, before Vidic levelled it up with eight
minutes left. United went on to win via penalties, to make it 14 Community
Shield wins.

We hope for a similar sort of match here today. Let me remind you of the
rules. A team can name seven subs, five can be used. If the scores are level
after 90 minutes then it will go straight to penalties.

Stick with us this afternoon for live updates throughout the afternoon.

1425: TEAMS
Here are the teams for today's match:

Liverpool: Reina, Finnan, Insua, Antwi, Agger, Gerrard, Guardado,
Alonso, Mascherano, Crouch, Voronin. Subs: Carson, Babel, Lucas, Torres,
Nunes, Kewell, Pennant
Portsmouth: D.James, Mills, Traor?, Reynolds, Matip, C.James, Leto,
Diop, Muntari, Stancu, Nugent. Subs: Ashdown, Utaka, Kranjcar, Diamoutene,
Donovan, Mendes, Johnson

A few surprises in those teams. Torres starts on the bench alongside Nunes.
Instead it's Voronin who will start up front alongside Crouch.

New Portsmouth boss Dave Jones has left out Jermaine Defoe. Kranjcar and
new signing Diamoutene are on the bench. Nugent and Stancu start up front,
and Leto gets a chance to face his old club, he's playing at left mid.

1431: "I can't believe Rafa is playing Voronin ahead of Torres. Does he
want us to win this?"

1437: Seems both sides will be playing 4-4-2 formations. Gerrard is
out on the right with Mascherano and Alonso in the centre. Muntari and Diop
contest that midfield for Portsmouth. Portsmouth's new signing Danny Mills
will have to stop 'Player of the Year' Andr?s Guardado, who will certainly be a
handful today.

1449: "This is a big game for Liverpool. They haven't made any
signings so far, and this will show whether this team can continue to be top
of the pile. As for Portsmouth, Dave Jones will be taking notes on all the
players today. It's his first competitive game in charge, and the players who
perform well today will be playing the opening game next weekend."
Former Liverpool player Graeme Souness

1455: The teams have made it out onto the Wembley pitch. It's a
fantastic sight. 90,000 people here with the sun shining down on us. Lets
hope the football is as good as the day.
