Actually, they're the only rivalries in cricket. Sri Lanka and South Africa don't really have rivals even though they're good teams. New Zealand doesn't play enough. West Indies aren't good enough, and Zimbabwe and Bangladesh suck.

Australia vs New Zealand
Australia vs South Africa

?

New zealand Vs Australia, New Zealand won the series 3 - 0 against australia, and australia demolished them in their homeland after a while..

South Africa Vs Australia, The greatest ODer was played between them and won series 3 - 2, And.. Australia again, Hammered them in the test series 6 - 0, They did have a friendly and competitive rivalry, but it is remembered in occasions..

Rivalry doesn't mean it has to be hundreds of years, like wars, it's the competition between teams/players to achieve their goal and putting their levels to maximum or taking the game to an extent which is considered more than great and creating historic moments.

Australia and New Zealand have a traditional rivalry (trans-Tasman) that is much more fierce in the NZ camp than in ours. New Zealand fans are some of the most (generally) feral in the world, if you watch them taunting outfielders, chucking rubbish at players and abusing them, you'll see why.

However on the field it's not a very competitive rivalry.

Australia and South Africa have a good on field competitive rivalry and some off field comments did spark a bit of controversy. We will see more when South Africa tour Australia in December-January and Australia tour South Africa afterwards.

England - Australia is exclusive. You can see how much Australia raise their game for every Ashes series. They don't do that much for any other series.

Sure India and Pakistan rivary is getting boring now
but It's still a big rivaly because cricket is watched more in India and Pakistan

After watching a lot of Ashes matches and Border-Gavskar matches I've come to the conclusion that Ashes is the greatest Border-Gavskar has only 1 breath taking game and that is the 2001 Kolkata Test but Ashes has too many

Whenever India, England or South Africa play each other.

Battle of the Australian wanna be's.

I love your style, Ben.

I'd say Sydney, Perth, Adelaide (2003) were all breath taking. This is an awesome rivalry competition wise - no one can doubt that.

India and Pakistan play way too often for an encounter to be interesting.

Sohum, I feel Pakistan's form in the recent times has led more to the rivalry going downhill. In 2004, the series was still amazing. But I dont know what happened to Pakistan after that. They are not the same side that matches India eye to eye anymore. Also, Ind-Pak rivalry was more heavy because of the volatality between the two nations. Once we started this 'friendship' thing between the two nations, the rivalry went down (I am not saying its wrong because when the rivalry was heavy and volatile, we even heard of people losing lives because of this rivalry)

So I dont mind the Ind-Pak rivalry going down, which it certainly has.

only one? FYI, Chennai (2001) was a breathtaking contest. Inspite of facing a target of only 155, Australia refused to give up and took India right down the wire (we won by only two wickets, and courtesy Sameer Dighe's fluky shots which could have also landed in the hand cups of a fielder). We won that match because of our new found brave approach (instigated by the now retiring Saurav Ganguly)

Also, Adelaide (2003) was awesome for that Dravid-Laxman partnership which brought back Kolkatta 2001 memories and Ajit Agarkar 6 wickets which destroyed Australia's 2nd innings. Sydney (2007) was breathtaking too with that controversial final day adding big spice. And Perth (2007) was equally breathtaking because in the lead up, people spoke about how India dont stand a chance at the world's fastest pitch (including YOURS TRULY!)
