The Ghana national team manager Milovan Rajevac has rejected an offer from West Ham to take control of the London based club until the end of the season following Gianfranco Zola's departure earlier in the week.

It was revealed today that Rajevac turned down the offer from West Ham chairman Mark Berry, who sacked Zola following a poor run of form on Tuesday, in order to focus on achieving his long-term goals with Ghana.

The Serbian born manager stated that he was extremely tempted by the offer but decided that Ghana deserved his full attention over the coming years.

Rajevac told reporters that his goals of winning the African Cup of Nations and breaking his Ghana team into the top 10 of the FIFA World Rankings were still his top priority. Having made the final of the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola but losing out to a late South Africa goal, Rajevac hopes he can go one further at next years competition.

However, Rajevac has hinted that in the future he may look for a move to the Premiership to enhance his career. In the meantime he will be turning his attention to Ghana's next African Cup of Nations qualifier with Burundi next month.

Premiership offers don't come knocking every week but he's got a great chance of winning the African Cup of Nations, and he should achieve success with Ghana before moving on.

Late Gyan strike needed to sink Burundi

asamoahgyan2.jpg

Asamoah Gyan's injury time winner continued Ghana's one hundred percent record

Ghana needed an injury time goal from prolific striker Asamoah Gyan to beat a stubborn Burundi in the Ghana capital, Accra

Once again Ghana dominated proceedings but failed to put away chances, relying on Gyan to keep their African Cup of Nations qualifying record at a one hundred percent win rate.

It took 47 minutes for Ghana to break the deadlock but it came with a stunning strike from experienced midfielder Stephen Appiah. Hans Sarpei's cross field pass gave Appiah the space to take a touch and hammer the ball goal-wards from 30 yards, striking the inside of the upright before rustling the back of the net.

However, six minutes later Burundi found a goal from out of the blue, leveling the score at one apiece. Ben Onyango made space for himself at the far post and managed to loop the ball over the keeper's head and into the far corner of the net.

Ghana pushed once more but failed to make their possession and chances count, until Gyan stepped up to be the hero again with a thunderous right footed shot from just inside the area.

Overall, Ghana deserved a bigger margin of victory, with 26 shots on goal and 61% of the possession. Their lack of composure in front of goal will worry head coach Milovan Rajevac with games against Paraguay and Mexico later this year.

Osei shines in impressive debut

ransfordosei.jpg

20 year-old Real Madrid star Ransford Osei was in sparkling form on international debut

A goal and an assist on international debut from Real Madrid star Ransford Osei helped Ghana to a comfortable 4-0 win over Madagascar in their fourth game of the African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The 20 year old Real Madrid striker grabbed the headlines following a brilliant performance alongside Asamoah Gyan up front for The Black Stars. He crossed in for Kwadwo Asamoah's second goal and then found the net himself with 17 minutes remaining to mark a memorable night in Kumasi.

It was another star in the making that opened the scoring for Ghana, as Ahmed Barusso crashed in his third goal in four games with a sweetly struck shot from 25 yards.

Kwadwo Asamoah then scored twice in the space of 13 minutes before half time. The first came from a low Gyan cross leaving the midfielder with the easy task of knocking the ball a few yards forward and into the back of the net. The second came courtesy of some brilliant footwork by Osei, who took on several defenders before cutting the ball back and onto the head of Asamoah, who found the net again.

The fourth and final goal came from the d?butante himself, as he rose high above the Madagascar defenders and powered his header past the diving keeper to spark ecstatic celebrations from the twenty year old.

Osei has had a brilliant couple of years since turning 18, having won the U20 World Cup with Ghana in 2009, signing for Real Madrid in September 2010 and now scoring on his senior international debut.

Ghana now have a week before they face Paraguay in a friendly, where Osei will be hoping he can make his mark in a much sterner test against the South Americans.

Excellent, simple victory there for Ghana. They really should be looking to win the African Cup of Nations. Good luck against Paraguay, certainly a much tougher test for the Black Stars!

Ghana conquer Paraguay

addotagoegyan.jpg

Eric Addo, Prince Tagoe, Asamoah Gyan: Ghana's scoring trio

Paraguay proved no match for Ghana who notched up three goals in the second half to cruise to a convincing win at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Ghana continued their excellent form in 2011 with a 3-0 win over South American side Paraguay in Accra. All of the goals came in the second half, with striker Asamoah Gyan adding to his impressive international record

The Stade Rennais striker bagged his 26th international goal in 41 caps, poking past Justo Villar in the Paraguay goal just seconds after the restart.

Six minutes from the end substitute Prince Tagoe headed in Yakubu's cross to double the lead, and on the stroke of full time a stunning free kick from central defender Eric Addo made it 3-0.

Ghana dominated the game and could have scored more. Stephen Appiah came close in the first half with a long range shot cannoning back off the bar. However, Ghana didn't have it all their own way and could have gone behind to a Cabanas header: the bar the only thing standing in Paraguay's way.

Next up for Ghana is a friendly with Belarus in August, whilst Paraguay get set for the Copa America next month.
