Draft: The Block(er)Chain Draft

They never played County Championship games against each other, but they did play WSC Supertests

and this is quite the conundrum, since of course they (absurdly) don’t count as FC despite obviously meeting every criteria to do so.

for the purposes of this draft, I would allow that.

when I become a billionaire and take over the cricket world, step 1 would be historically recognising WSC

Oh jeez, haven't been giving this forum some time (real life plus NaNoWriMo). Can anyone tell me how many picks I have? I'll assume I'll have to link to Procter. What I can do, to make things fair, is if I have 2 picks I can pick one now and let the next player link and then pick another, since it's unfair if I don't officially have a double pick to pick two at once.

World Series Cricket should count.

You have a double pick starting from Graeme Pollock; so lots of freedom really

Yep, just take 2 picks starting from Graeme Pollock.

Well in that case, I'll make my double triple pick now.

You absolutely cannot mention Graeme Pollock without also mentioning in that same sentence, the absolute best all-round player in the history of the game, Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers. The two played together, in the same team even, when England faced a Rest of the World XI in 1970. Whether it was an official FC match or not, it deserves to be. You have to remember that Sobers' 365 was not only the highest individual score for quite some time, it was also his first Test century. And I think he was something like 21 or so at the time. Then you add fast-medium swing bowling. And left arm orthodox. And left arm chinaman. Oh, and fielding. You can't get a more complete player than that.

Playing alongside Sobers, of course, was Sir Everton DeCourcy Weekes, who was perhaps one of the hardest hitting batsmen of his day. Weekes was named by his father, who was a huge fan of the English football team Everton. Jim Laker hilariously said to him once, "Good thing he wasn't a West Bromwich Albion fan." But hell, no matter what team his dad supported, the Test average of 58 with some change left over will definitely be up there.

To complete my West Indian trio, my wicketkeeper will be another of the 3W's, Sir Clyde Leopold Walcott. Perhaps the only one of these picks with an actual normal set of names, he was an excellent wicketkeeper, and I dare say an even better batsman.

As a Trinidadian, I'm supposed to have an intense rivalry with Barbadians, but really, I had to pick these three Bajans in my squad. They just had to be picked.

I'm not quite sure who's next. If someone can tag that person, please do.

1. Gordon Greenidge :wi:
2. Matthew Hayden :aus:
3.
4. Sir Everton Weekes :wi:
5. Sir Clyde Walcott :wi: :wkb:
6. Johnny Douglas :eng:
7. Sir Garry Sobers :wi:
8.
9.
10.
11.

(I still kinda think it's a little unfair that I missed a pick and now have the luxury of 3 picks. Yes it was my double pick time, but still...unfair to others.)

Hard not to pick a player described as "One of the greatest batsmen in the history of Cricket" who completes my opening pair at the same time, will also captain the side in the interim.
