End of Play Day 2
Frizzall Championship Division 2
Derbyshire v Essex at Derbyshire
Essex 419
Derbyshire 3/228

Derbyshire trail by 191 runs

J.Martyn 114 (130) not out
L.Freeman 26 (55) not out

D.Gough 2/95

A brilliant last session by Derbyshire has seen them right back in this match lead by Joe Martyn, the Essex bowlers had little to offer in the way of resistance as Martyn punished them to all parts of the ground. If you get i chance i would suggest you get to the ground tommorrow cause nothing looks like getting this kid out.

Well batted mate, lets see you turn it into a big hundred!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Mike Atherton was looking for you, wanted to interview you about your efforts today (hint hint hint) :D

Funnily enough Mike Atherton is with todays centurion Joe Martyn to talk about the days play:

Mike Atherton: Well played mate, a maiden first class century in your first innings in first class cricket, it doesn't get much better than that.

Joe Martyn: Thanks very much mate, I really enjoyed my time in the middle.

MA: It looked that way! You don't take pity on these poor bowlers do you?!

JM: (laughs) Well, the I felt good out there from early on, and started scoring pretty quickly pretty early on, I was in a bit earlier than I would of expected, but as a number three you have to expect to come in maybe in the first over, maybe in the 80th.

MA: You really anchored the innings today didn't you?

JM: We cleared up the Essex innings sharpish this morning thanks to the skipper, but the damage had been done yesterday, we are chasing 400. So that means that at least one guy is going to have to get a century. But today we have batted in partnerships, myself and Blaine put on a big stand, and myself and Luke are in the process of a partnership and will want to push on tomorrow.

MA: What total is achievable now?

JM: It's not for me to speculate, we have to go back out there tomorrow as if it's 0 for 0 and really concentrate on batting.

MA: Well thanks very much Joe, it was a pleasure to watch you today.

JM: Thanks very much Mike, I can recall many on innings of yours I've enjoyed too!
