Well next time South Africa will be there. And i hope they beat the hell out of Australia.

I am waiting for Pakistan tour. And i hope Shoaib,Asif and Gul are fit.:p

Yeah today Gilchrist played his last international match. And tonight Brad Haddin will get some supernatural powers so that he can tear attacks. He is not even 40% of what gilly is.

All above not happening :noway

TBH, I think the Australian ODI side is too long in the tooth. Gilchrist is going which is good (don't get me wrong, Gilly is my favourite batsman of all time. I think that he was just starting to look tired and a little slower in the feet.), Hogg is going which is good but we still have guys like Ponting, Hussey, Hayden and Clark making up the side.

Even though these guys are all in form except Ponting, they seem to have just slowed down a little over the past 3-5 months. The ODI side is a side for younger players not older ones IMO. I'm not saying drop them, all that I am saying is that maybe we slowly start to phase out some of the older guys and begin to have a youth first policy for the ODI side. IMO, the team should be in the next 12-18 months time:

1. Jaques
2. Watson
3. Ponting
4. Thornley
5. Clarke
6. Symonds
7. Haddin
8. White
9. Lee
10. Johnson
11. Bracken

Obviously Watson is injured and his return is very subjective. Should he return though, he would partner Jaques as the other opener. If he does not return, Thornley would open the batting and a frontline fast bowler would come into the side such as Hilfenhaus. Thornley might be a contentious issue but he scores a lot of runs in 1st Class cricket, is the right side of 30 and can field in the all important slips. This side can bat all the way down to number 10 and has a strong bowling attack. White would be the frontline spin option. Not a huge spinner but generally speaking, one day pitches don't usually spin a lot and he is more a Kumble kind of spinner which I prefer in ODI anyway.

LOL. Australian dominance is less impressive but as they proved last year after the CB series and the Chappel Hadlee trophy they can bounce back and hit hard. Who is to say the indian youth are gonna be consistent. Seriously guys don't get too excited just yet. India need to maintain their game.

I understand the need for a spinner but to be honest why White? He's an alright batsman but i dont his spin cuts it. I never liked Watson either. Your side does have spark tho. This is how i see it if Australia want a under 32 team (disregard ponting)

Jacques
Quiney
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Haddin
Hopes/Watson/D. Hussey
Lee
Johnson
Bracken
Hauritz/White (bat higher up)/spinner

I picked white because I think the future of ODI cricket will be batsman friendly pitches. People want to see runs not wickets in general so -
1. He is a Kumble type spinner. I find spinners like Kumble are better suited to batsman friendly pitches. More bounce.
2. He can bat. Good player to score some quick runs with later in the game.
3. He has a cricket brain
4. Outstanding fielder

With Watson, the only other player I could think of was Luke Butterworth but is he too raw?

That's like saying I'm a Lara like batsman because I'm left handed and have a high backlift. Quite the insult.

LOL, Domestic Thornley or Robert Quiney will never play for Australia.

Pretty much like saying "Im shane warne because i got his technique".

I still don't know which part he is quoting from. Is it the batsman friendly comment or the spinner comment? It's probably the spinner comment. I think white is a kumble-like-spinner because he is not a huge turner rather a spinner who relies more on bounce and slight variations than one who relies on flight and prodigious turn. He isn't as good as kumble bowling wise but is a much better batsman.

Always interesting hearing other people judge Australia, Australia have quite a depth list in players that will be coming up, especially in the Test arena. But ODI could be the problem.

Hayden - Jaques: Won't match in intensity but his consistency is just as good as Hayden.
Gilchrist - Haddin: A big loss, but a big gain. So consistent in the Domestic game.
Not to mention David Hussey's big striking ability.

Why is everyone not including Hayden? He's 37 at the moment and just said recently he wanted to go until 40. Not saying that he will, but at least he'll still be a mainstay for at least the next season.

Hopes still doesn't convince me. He's bowling is passable but batting is too inconsistent. I'd definitely prefer a specialist and I see him as a bits and pieces player. But considering last night and the fact that he gives the team balance, he might be in the mix for some time. Essentially what's happening here is D Hussey is being robbed of a position.

Spin is another area of concern, big concern. Shoul d we use MacGill and McGain as stop gap solutions in ODIs until we get some young ones developing?

Ya..Its already ended....India have won by 2-0...We have beat Aussis in their homes...:clap:clap:happy:happy:D
Indeed, India are the new world force in cricket. This reminds me of the last time Australia lost the Tri Series in straight sets in the finals. I seem to be getting forgetful, can anyone remind me what happened after that?

The truth is, Australia's dominance will definitely be taking a breather, but that doesn't mean that their time is up, or that they are now going into a new era of playing badly, as some have ludicrously suggested.

Our batting lineup needs a shakeup, the loss of Hogg is mildly inconvenient at best, and Gilchrist is a loss, but at the same time he was out of form, and a new keeper will probably do us a world of good. Haddin is, at the moment, a better player than Gilly anyway.

The future of Australian cricket is by no means sealed. It is well and truly up to the very capable new generation to decide!

Thornely is struggling to keep his spot in NSW so won't even come close to playing for Aus.

Haha! I love you type of Pakistani/Indian supporters. Aus lose one match or two and our dominance is over.

Their dominance in the World Cup meant that one or two losses was an impossibility. They have also lost Gilchrist, an integral part of the team with the gloves (though he seriously lost it toward the end) and the bat. This is not like last year's CB Series when there were injuries and the loss of a captain to such, this is like the 2005 Ashes where Australia have to look at themselves and think that they will have to do something to stay at the top. The annoying thing is that...

...they always do.
