Story The Falcons:: A New Season (BT)

The Falcons vs We-Wak Allstars
PlanetCricket Championship Division 1

Hello and Welcome to today's match up in the Planetcricket Championship Division 1. Its a sunny day here at the ZCG. The pitch once again looks to favor the Falcons as it is very slow. The Falcons once again won the toss and elected to bat.

Shahbaz and Nisar walked out into the middle once more. Shahbaz got a good start going just above a run a ball but good bowling by Van Zeeland got him chasing a ball which ended up being caught by the keeper. Shorey played well for his 32 but once again he edged it to the keeper. A huge partnership between Lister and Nisar took the Falcons to 310. Kilgallon and Lister finished it off to get The Falcons to 336/3.

We-Wak All-Stars had a huge total to chase and it didn't strat out well as Mahmood and Tuckett started to bowl beautifully. The Middle order did offer a bit of resistance but in the end the bowlers bowled really well. Inamullah bowled with great amount of spin to get 3 wickets. The Falcons win by 145 runs.

Friday's Review!

A good game for the Falcons today. Its always great to win your first game of the new league. It shows the opponents a lot. Because this was not a home game, no funds were added to the finances of the team. The top 3 did well again, but there are worries for the middle order. There was a slight collapse at the end and the run rate slowed down. Even though Mahmood is getting tons of training time.. He still showed that he is the Falcons premier bowler by getting 4 wickets. The spinner Inamullah showed that the Falcons spent their money well by keeping it tight and taking 2 wickets. The only change for the next game would be Mahmood, for a batsman. Kilgallon will probably have to bowl Mahmood's over. Mahmood right now is happy with his condition but the coach says that he is very fatigued.

Public Poll!

The Falcons have hinted that they would like to change their ground name. They feel that the "ZCG" does not suit the team anymore. We are giving the Public the choice of chosing a suitable name. Here are some Suggestions, you can also make up your own.

a) Falcon Paradise
b) Falcon Park
c) Falcon Dome

Any Suggestions?

I liked the ZCG :(
I don't like any one. Go for the "The Bird Cage" or "The Falcon's den" Atcually, the Lion's Den isn't too bad...nah...
Or how about "The Graveyard", "The Scrapyard", "The Hunting Grounds"...

Random Fact of the Day!

Did you know that the Falcons haven't lost a match for 11 games now. Their longest Streak was for 13 games, in which they won all 13. Can they beat that record?

Getting ready for the Game tonight! The Coaches Words!

The second Battrick Cup match this season, and it looks pretty easy and straight forward. Once again it is an away game at the taieri college 2nds CG where we will meet the taieri college 2nds. I've looked at their previous games and I've hunted out some of their weaknesses. Their bowling struggles, especially their change up bowlers. In their match two days ago, the other team made 343/7 batting first. Their opening bowlers taking 5 of the 7 wickets together. Chasing they got to 314/8 in their 50 overs.

Other news is that Mahmood will be rested for this game, as Kilgallon will be given the bowl as well. This is only temporary as we want to rest Mahmood for our match versus bigger and stronger teams. The team has been told to take it easy out there.

2nd Cup Match
taieri college 2nds v The Falcons

Shahbaz and Shorey take Full Advantage

The Falcons won the toss once again and decided to bat. The pitch was hard and pretty fast. It would help the seamer's a bit, but it should be a high scoring match. Shahbaz and Nisar walked out to the middle looking confident. Nisar got out for a rare duck, his first for a very long time. The Falcons were a bit surprised by the event but they knew that there was a lot of batting still to come. Shorey walked out into the middle and made a massive 324 run partnership with Shahbaz. Shorey couldn't get to his 150 but Shahbaz marched onto a good looking score of 183 not out from just 136 balls. The Falcons got to a score of 373/2.

Kilgallon Makes The Opportunity count!

Ashraf and Tuckett made a good start to their spells taking both openers out of the game. Mohibullah made a fantastic 50 but was one of the three victims of Kilgallon's fierce bowling. Atkins and Kilgallon ripped them apart and Ashraf came back to finish it off. In the End the Falcons win quite easily, by a margin of 246 runs.
