And that it is our biggest mining disaster in 96 years and our biggest death toll from a single thing since the '76(?) Erebus crash

Still, the point stands. 3000 people die a day in mining accidents and aren't thought of, why should these 29 deserve any special treatment? What makes their lives worth more attention than 3000 Chinese people?

Just to clarify, 3000 a year is the average, not a day. They average 7 deaths a day which is ridiculous.

The worse was a few years ago when they had more than 8000 deaths in a single year.

Nothing really does, this is a cricket forum of which New Zealand is one of the major eight countries, if you go to a Chinese forum no one will be mentioning this. It's our worst disaster in over 30 years, hence why it's been mentioned.

It's seems kind of appropriate as it's been the biggest "News" story in New Zealand for a long time, hence why it's been discussed in "The News Thread".

Also it means something to the Aussie's and English as well as us, as they had a moments silence at the Ashes.

I think he means Tendulkar has never hit a six against Pakistan in test cricket, but his English is unbelievably bad.

Come on, Try speaking his first language and you'll be owned. :p

Not to mention his 'fact' is most likely inaccurate, and is in no way breaking news or deserves to be in this thread...
