Story The Origin Of Test Cricket:IvoBligh's XI in Australia;1882-83;3rd Test; Two innings in one day!!!

Well that really wonderful bowling by Australia. England lost 6 wickets in this session. Well done Ulyett for scoring a century :clap.

The England innings doesnot go too far. Peate is the last man out when Bannerman latches on to the cut shot off Giffen.England are all out for 227.This is a big disappointment after Ulyett?s brilliant batting at the top.The bowlers have put Australia right in the game.Their batters need to back up the bowling.

Uncharacteristic aggressive start by Bannerman is cut short when he plays across the line and is leg before to Peate.Peate has been the bowler of the series so far.The batsmen have been unable to deal with his Left-Arm over the wicket.
Murdoch is also snapped by Peate when he plays forward to a pitched up ball and is duly stumped.

Massie tries to break the shackles by going over the top but Shaw takes a great catch off his shoulder .

To make matters worse, Barlow and Scotton run into each other. luckily, the injuries are not all that serious. But as a precaution, both of them are adviced rest for the day. This means that Barlow wont be bowling in this innings.

England:227
Australia:81/3 off 23 overs
Mcdonell:20*(30)
Horan:30*(30)
Peat:7-4-17-2
Ulyett:8-2-23-1

Unlucky regarding that injuries.. May be it's preventing another couple of wickets if they had not been injured. I think, Aussies will end up with 20 runs lead :p Lets see..

Keep up the classic fantastic works. :thumbs

Australia dominate the session, beginning with Horan first to reach his fifty off just 53 balls. He has dominated the bowling and his stroke play has been dazzling thus far. Mcdonell also reaches his fifty, off 74 balls, a more calculating approach as compared to Horan?s ?butchered savagery?.

Midwinter however, gets rid of Mcdonnell with a quick Yorker. Mcdonnell is well forward to a pitched up delivery and is bowled.

With Barlow out of action, Bannerman sportingly agrees to field for English. He is however at the center of a controversy when he drops Horan off Ulyett. The score is 177 when a top edge flies off Horan?s bat towards Bannerman. Bannerman tries his best but the ball drops out off his hand as his body hits the turf. English captain Shaw however puts it down as part of the game. He tells Wisden ?It all a part of the game. Some of them stick, others don?t.?

Australia go for tea at 207/4 at a healthy run rate of 4.22.Horan is nearing a memorable hundred. He is at 96 with Giffen on 24 off 26 balls giving company. English bowlers have toiled without luck. Absence of Barlow as a bowler has also hit them hard.

England227
Australia 207/4
Horan:96*(108)
Giffen:24*(26)

Horan looks set he should reach his hundred kutgw

Ulyett was bowled off a new ball on 91 i guess and this time its his opposition player Horan who is dropped off the bowling of Ulyett when he was nearing his century.

Nice update mate.KUTGW :)

Ya England bowlers had no luck. Australia is nicely placed at the moment. But anything can happen in cricket..

Fantastic presentation as always :)

Thanks again for following the story. The next update is going to be a "Chapter Out Of History Book".

Horan gets a well-deserved 100.It has taken him 109 balls. It is the fastest 100 thus far in Test Cricket. Wisden calls it ? A masterpiece with strokes all over the ground. A brilliant counter attack.? Giffen has been an ideal partner and with runs coming from both ends, England are under pressure. They are already a bowler short in Barlow.

Giffen is the next wicket to fall. He holes out to Emmett off Peate. He has added 101 runs with Horan in quick time.

Horan loses his wicket to Bates. He has a sudden rush of blood and charges out to Bates, only to see Pilling execute a perfect stumping. Sixth wicket has gone down at 274.

Evans is the next man to go. He is a victim of uncertain judgement. Blackham is already standing out of his crease, facing Ulyett. He plays a defensive shot and by the momentum is carried forward. Evans, on the end, interprets this as a call for a run and starts running. Blackham, seeing Evans begins to run. At this time, both of them spot the fielder converging on the ball. The batsmen decide to head back to their ends. The fielder throws the stumps down at the non-striker end and Evans is run out with score at 293.

Palmer is the victim of a great reflex catch at silly-point by Emmett off Ulyett. Palmer pulls a short ball and Emmett laps it up. Palmer can?t believe that Emmett held onto that one. Eight down for 293.

Blackham falls leg before to Bates for 13 with score at 299 (Sorry! No pics)

Boyle is the last one to fall. Bates, in deep takes a skier off Ulyett.

Australians close at 299, a lead of 72 runs. Horan?s innings has put England on the back foot. The lead looks slender but the attack by Giffen and Horan has shredded England attack. Ulyett, the workhorse bowls 26 overs with returns of 3/124.Bates has also toiled for 21 overs to return with figures of 2/93.Peate has 3/37 off 9 overs.

Could be a usefull lead there by Australia but i doubt it will be enough.
Great story KUTGW :happy

Fantastic - especially the use of B&W. I have a suggestion. Why not make it sepia-tinted (slightly brownish grey) instead of pure Black and White? That would give it a really classic feel.

Great game and great idea too.

Well, finally after a couple of weeks works, I am finally able to get SEPIA tone to the pictures.A big thanks to Harishankar:hpraise.

Ulyett and Barlow find it going against Spofforth and Palmer. Ulyett tries to force the issue but is caught brilliantly by Massie off Palmer.

Selby poor run of luck continues as his forward defensive shot is snapped by an ever alert Bannerman off Scotton.

At the end of day?s play, England are 2 down for 35 off 10 overs. Barlow has done the bulk of scoring. Bates is giving him company at 5.

England:227 ALL OUT
Australia:299 All OUT
England:2/35 off 10 overs
Barlow:19*(24)
Bates:5*(9)

England really need to bat well to save this test.Barlow, who didn't bowl after his collision, is in muderous mood.
