Story The Origin Of Test Cricket:IvoBligh's XI in Australia;1882-83;3rd Test; Two innings in one day!!!

England are in a bit of a trouble here. They need atleast one good and huge partnership!

Nice presentation! Love the Sepia tone. KUTGW!

I believe this is going to be a close contest. England need to preserve the wickets and one big partnership will place them in driver's seat.

Outstanding Classic story! :thumbs

Bates is the third wicket to fall with score at 62.He is caught by Massie off Cooper. Bates gets a rank half volley which he pulls straight into the waiting hands of Massie.

Shrewsbury is the next wicket to fall with the score on 62.He is lbw to Spofforth for a duck.
Midwinter is in the middle for two balls before he is caught by Bannermann off Spofforth.

This has been an amazing over by Spofforth. He has three wickets is an over and England have slipped down to 5 down for 62.

Score moves on to 84 before Scotton is caught by Murdoch off Spofforth.

With score on 94, Ulyett falls to a great catch by Massie off Palmer. Ulyett had to retire hurt when he had slipped while taking off for a run.

The rot continues when Emmett falls to the old firm of Messers Bannerman and Spofforth.

Pilling gives a tame caught and bowled to Giffen while Peate hits out Giffen to Spofforth.

Spofforth takes 6 for 19 to reduce England to 120 allout.Australia now need only 51 runs to win.England badly missed Ulyett at the top of the order.without his calmed presence, Spofforth and co have wracked havoc.
Australia have no problem in knocking off the required runs off 9.1 overs.Massie falls legbefore to Peate.Bannerman, in a surprising new role as Aggressor is unbeaten at 30 off 20 balls.

I am not sure, but try wrapping the
Code:
tags around the scorecard. I think that should work. If not, try making a scorecard like most other stories, and maybe that could be black and white too:)

Its one of the bad loss for English side.. Better luck next game.

And regarding the story, its growing better and better update by update. Storyline wise as well as Presentation wise.. its going great. :hpraise :hpraise Very detailed works with the stats too. Very well done. Keep it going. Looking forward to the next one. :)

And regarding that scorecard of text file, try using the code tags between the text and see a preview and lets see how it comes. It should be coming alright.

Thanks a lot,Karachi Xpress,Surendar. It works fine. Now it looks great. Thanks for your help guys.I really appreciate it.

The birth of the Ashes after Australia won a thrilling Test at The Oval, dismissing England for 69 after they had been set only 77 to win. Spofforth took 14 for 90 in the match, and bowled his last 11 overs for 2 runs and 4 wickets. The match resulted in a mock obituary for English cricket penned by Reginald Shirley Brooks appearing in The Sporting Times and the legend began.

Australia win the toss and decide to bat.It is an overcast day.The pitch is laden heavily in the favor of the bowlers.Going by the popular wisdom of batting first if unsure, the australians have their work cut out. With more rain expected, in the era of uncovered pitches, it seems to be a sensible decision.English batting is led by Ulyett while Spofforth for Australia has been giving nightmares to the batsmen all over the land.

The englishmen walk down the steps led by Lord Lyttleton, followed by "Monkey" Hornby,Ulyett.Grace and Lucas seem to be talking about weather as they join the rest.
There is a big cheer from the crowd as the Australian pair of Bannerman and Massie make their way to the middle through the crowd.
The umpires take their positions and call"Play"

Lunch Bulletin

The Australian innings fell apart right from the word go. The rot started with Massie nicking Ulyett to Hornby. What followed next was a calculated assault on the Australian line-up boasting of names like Bannerman, Bonnor and Horan.

Bannerman was snapped brilliantly by Ulyett off Peate right after Murdoch had fallen to swing of Ulyett in the slips.Three down for 25 wasn?t the kind of start expected by Australia.By the time, the umpires announced the lunch interval, Australia were at 97 for 9 after 27 overs in the middle.

The only partnership of substance was when Horan and Giffen added 27 runs for the 5th wicket. After Horan fell at 71, Blackham, Garrett and Giffen were back in the hut by the time scoreboard moved to 79.The last semblance of a fight was offered when Boyle and Jones combined for a stand of 18 for the 9th wicket. But when Boyle was adjudged lbw , last over before lunch, the patrons had a big smile on their way to the hospitality tent. Obviously, English bowlers dominating was the topic of discussion over the cup of tea and sandwiches. Australian batsmen kept trying to hit their way out of trouble. Considering the state of the pitch and the weather assisting the bowlers and as the scorecard would justify, it wasn?t the best idea ?under the clouds?.

I don't read much stories these days because most of them are just sub-standard to be honest, but this is fantastic.

but this is fantastic.

Can I take that "fantastic" description for loosing 9 wickets of Aussies in such a low score. :p ( just kidding )

On a serious note, there is no doubts that this has been a well written/neatly written classic story. Hard works are well reflected in this thread. Outstanding effort. :hpraise
