All usual rules apply: you have 24 hours to make a pick before the next picker can jump in; you also have only 24 hours to make a double pick. Please only pick players who have batted at number 11 in Test cricket. Any questions, just ask.

It would be much appreciated if you could post at the very least some kind of justification for your pick, even if it's just in the form of a sentence:
:wi: :bat: Daren Ganga :c: - This West Indian opener was a far more able cricketer than his average suggests. Good enough to be picked whilst still a teenager, and a good enough captain to bring the best out of a mediocre side, he comes into the team to be a Trinidadian Mike Brearley but with more Test tons.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul

The possessor of the crabbiest technique in world cricket, Shivnarine Chanderpaul proved there is life beyond the coaching handbook. He never seemed to play in the V, or off the front foot, but used soft hands, canny deflections, and a whiplash pull-shot to maintain a Test average of over 50. While the cricket world was obsessed with Brian Lara's unquestionable talent, Chanderpaul showed that there were alternate ways to be consistent and prolific in Test cricket over a long period of time, becoming only the second West Indian to score 10,000 Test runs.

Overall Pick #2: George Headley
upload_2020-1-11_11-52-45.png

Profile
Very few batsmen, ever, have been as good as George Headley. One of only three non-Australians to finish their Test career with a batting average of over 60, he stands out from the rest in that he was able to maintain his obscenely high standards (he averaged over 70 at his preferred number three, and was known ubiquitously as "The Black Bradman") over a career that lasted over two decades, either side of a World War, and did so in a weak West Indian side which was not one of the three oldest Test nations and therefore played Test cricket most irregularly. That said, he was easily at his best before the War: had he not returned to Test cricket afterwards, he would have finished with an average of 66.72. The final, remarkable footnote to his success is that he was born in Panama while his father worked building the canal, and did not learn English until his family moved to Jamaica well into his childhood. To then go on to become a giant of one of the most English games is a testament to his unique talent.

Statistics
:bat: Right-handed batsman
TESTS - 2,190 runs @ 60.83 (10 centuries, best 270) in 22 matches
FIRST CLASS - 9,921 runs @ 69.86 (33 centuries, best 344*) in 103 matches

Role in the Team

Bats three. Scores all the runs. Probably scores a century, because that's how a third of his pre-War innings unfolded.

I was going to pick him but decided that Chanderpaul has more experience than him especially in Asia.

Graeme Smith would be my first pick. The great South African player has 9265 Test runs at a healthy average of 48.26. He was a great opener and will possibly be my side's captain.South Africa was captained by him for 11 years, starting when he was 22 years old. He has the honour of being youngest South African captain. He made 2 consecutive double centuries in England, in 2003. He has surprisingly played one innings at #11

This was with a broken hand, against Mitchell Johnson. One of the most remarkable spells of Test cricket I've ever seen
I remember that. He had to survive 11 balls (as far as I remember). He was bowled by Johnson's ball which hit the crack and came back in.Ponting really appreciated him. It was 2013 (if I am not wrong)

My pick is Wasim Akram, the greatest left arm bowler in history, irrefutably. He could do literally anything he wanted with the ball, short of making it sing and dance. He was a good batsman, as shown by his highest Test score, 258* against a decent Zimbabwe, and very useful hitter in the last few overs. His most memorable moment was, of course, cleaning up Allan Lamb and Chris Lewis on consecutive deliveries in the '92 WC final, but he produced memorable moments in almost every match he played, such was his skill. He finished as Pakistan's leading wicket taker in both formats, and was a relatively decent captain, considering the constant off-field turmoil of the 90s.
