I dealt with a couple of the members insulting Bevab on his VM wall. I normally wouldn't mention it in public, but I'll make it an exception. I'll re-iterate my point again, this is to all, is it too much to ask to be civil? Particularly when some are moaning about that very thing. I know it's easy to let emotions get the better of you, just think before hitting submit.

I did and accepted that i was out of the line. Anyway, separate Sachin thread was a nice idea considering the fact that it would direct the Sachin fans to a particular place and if you don't like ti then don't bother going there.

Though some of the counter arguments to this were that "Non-Subcontinent members would then ask for K.P/Ponting sub forum".. Well, I don't think Subcontinental members have any problem with K.P/Punter threads. So end of discussion.

Yup, Kudos to jkartik to address this issue and Sureshot to handle it very well. This discussion was needed for quite some time. I tried to + rep jkartik and sureshot but then remembered that I've already given them reps for some of their brilliant posts earlier in this thread.

I think a lot of people on here need to grow up really, that's all it is. I've disagreed with you a few times and we've never had it sink into some silly name calling thing and we get on with each other.


The accusing people of racism is getting daft, from both sides. you know, this may be a bit leftfield and of course risky, but sometimes less moderation means the board almost moderates itself, I post on a music board and the only way to get anything removed is for someone to post personal details of someone else. everything else is fair game, there are a few fights but everyone mostly just avoids starting trouble because there are no mods to fall back on if fighting starts. you might lose people but I bet you wouldn't lose any of the sensible contributors.

Ok, maybe i have over-reacted to this. I've made my opinions of the topic known, and i've also made my opinions of some members known.

However, the forum does have some problems that need addressing, i'm not sure that i agree completely with some of the things that have been said, but if the majority feel it is getting somewhere, i'm fine with that.

That's all, the quality even of Random Thoughts really went to ████ from July 3-18th. I know this because they were the dates of my holiday. It went from light-hearted stuff to really crappy contributions. Given that's about the only thread I check these days, it has been disappointing to say the least.

Maybe I've out-grown the forums, 18 years old means I have other things to think about, but I'm sure when I joined I wasn't on the wind-up as much as some of the younger members were. I thought the members that were leaving/reducing activity would have shown the powers that be what's occurring here. I don't like to be arrogant or anything, but the likes of Highlander999, treva, Mark, dutchad, Themer (to an extent), MattW, Simbazz, myself (I like to think), were the glue that kept it all together here. I'm not saying we were the dog's bollocks, not for one second, but it was our contributions, although sometimes juvenile, that kept it all going nicely.

Even Ollie, mild-mannered Ollie_H has started to go off the rails, sinking to levels I certainly didn't expect from him.

Don't get me wrong, I bear no ill-will towards anyone, but I've become so disenchanted with it all, I just needed to say it. And call me arrogant if you like, but I certainly thought over my time, which is drawing to a close, I was a decent member...

You misunderstood me Rahul.

I was just explaining that if Subcontinental people have any problem with K.P or Ponting thread then Non-Subcontinental members could have asked for a Separate subforum for their fav player. But That isn't the case. Whereas a lot of them are annoyed due to large number of threads about Sachin, thats why i said it was a good idea to merge all the Sachin thread in a nice little sub forum. I guess you understand what i tried to say earlier.

We (the staff) are reacting to your wants, desires and needs. But obviously this takes time, rash decisions make bad decisions most of the time.

I honestly feel today has been productive, getting emotion out there isn't always a bad thing, it may not look great on the forum and it's not always been done in a mature manner, but it can make things better for the future.

I'm not in favour of a Sachin sub-forum, or even a Sachin sticky thread tbh. I just don't think it's neccessary, he's a great player and one most of us will want to post in at some point or another on a varying of subject. We don't all have to comment on a thread, I don't think the solution is to push issues out of the main domain.
