Story The Super Duper Series [C2005]

The Test XI won the toss and elected to bat, a decision made by Brian Lara because he is as hungry as a starving third world child.

"...must get runs...more runs...give runs to me...eat pakistani curry..." were Lara's words when being interviewed.

Ponting said "Well I was going to have a bowl anyway, lucky for me Lara's a selfish !@#$ and wanted to get a big score himself. Hope he gets a duck now, and I hope our Brian Lara gets a big score.

Sorry about the delay everyone but I am reviving this thread (if it was ever alive to begin with). It was a C2K5 bug that prevented me from saving the 2nd match earlier on, as for some reason I have to click save if I want it to save (as opposed to flicking the computer off and hoping for the best). Madness. It's all EA's fault.

looking forward to the next match, i like the detail of the overs and you comments are ace! lol

KUTGW :)

1st Over bowled by Shaun Pollock
Consistent line and length came from this Shaun Pollock over. Every single ball was a half-volley and just outside off stump, and therefore he was carted, Gilchrist hitting two fours, Hayden hitting a four and two sixes.
- Test XI 0/25 Gilchrist 9 Hayden 16

2nd Over bowled by Glenn McGrath
Glenn McGrath came on to save the day, bowling a very economical over with 10 runs coming off it. Possibly more importantly, he claimed the wickets of average batsmen Adam Gilchrist and Sachin Tendulkar. Rahul Dravid came in and set the tone back to where it was, with a six that was probably lucky to clear the rope.
- Test XI 2/35 Hayden 16 Dravid 6

3rd Over bowled by Shaun Pollock
Pollock followed McGrath?s lead, picking up two wickets in the over. Getting deep into the weaker batsmen now, Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting were at the crease at the end of the over.
- Test XI 4/43 Lara 7 Ponting 0

1) You could be forgiven for thinking this was an Australian Rules mark. Forgiven over time though, as it would be a pretty stupid mistake to make.
2) Gilchrist with a technically correct straight drive, although it was nowhere near the ball.
3) Tendulkar saw no need to defend the ball as it was clearly missing off stump. Unfortunately for Sachin, it hit leg.

4th Over bowled by Glenn McGrath
McGrath bowled up a storm and Lara dispatched every drop of it to the boundary. With a neat 10 runs off the first two balls, things weren?t looking good for the Pigeon. It?s not often he?s happy with 12 off an over.
- Test XI 55/4 Lara 18 Ponting 1

5th Over bowled by Muthiah Muralitharan
Lara and Ponting were content to keep away from the big shots against Murali, as they already had a few runs on the board (a few being 55) and spin was the main destroyer from the last match. Ponting and Lara both chose to work the ball around via leg-byes and it came off, a healthy three runs from the over without a wicket falling.
- Test XI 58/4 Lara 18 Ponting 2

6th Over bowled by Jason Gillespie
Ponting and Lara couldn?t refuse the opportunity to have a go at the ODI XI?s last paceman in Jason Gillespie. They were fairly ordinary to begin with, but eventually hit a few runs, 13 to be exact. Off the last ball Ponting thought he?d hit another catch to the crowd, but unfortunately for Punter, he got the crowd mixed up with the fielder?s throat.
- Test XI 71/5 Lara 18 Kallis 0

7th Over bowled by Muthiah Muralitharan
Lara decided to continue his defensive ways against spin, but Kallis chose not to follow suit, launching a big six off Murali to keep the run rate up a bit. Murali?s overs were a success for the Test XI, as defending him out was one of their major goals. Also working in their favour was that they still had Jacques Kallis in, who?s clone was the hero last match.
- Test XI 5/81 Lara 19 Kallis 9

8th Over bowled by Jason Gillespie
Kallis showed why he was the batsman that both teams are glad to have towards the end of an innings, continuing his big-hitting escapades with another massive six to start off the over. Lara tried to emulate it, but for a change a left-hander couldn?t hit the ball as well as a right-hander, a first in Cricket 2005. He holed out to a fieldsman on a boundary, which brought Shane Warne ?2 da cris?. He charged and hit the ball straight down the ground for six off his first ball, but scoring slowed down then, a run a ball for the rest of the over.
- Test XI 6/97 Kallis 17 Warne 7

9th Over bowled by Jacques Kallis
When bowling, Kallis got given a taste of his own medicine, literally. He was hit by himself for three consecutive sixes, the exact same feat he performed against Sachin Tendulkar last match. After that, neither of the Kallis clones really held bragging rights. But the bowling Kallis took the rights back, by bowling two dots and then claiming the prized scalp of himself. The batting Jacques Kallis? knock of 35 was the highest in Ten10 history, and was disappointing, as he looked well on the way (run-rate wise) to getting the magical 50.
-Test XI 7/115 Warne 7 Gillespie 0

10th Over bowled by Sachin Tendulkar
Tendulkar?s over posed the question ? why didn?t he get two overs? Tendulkar did extremely well to make up for his clone?s disgraceful effort last match (he had to do the dirty work as his clone was now playing in a team with the mental capacity to work out a bowling order). He was hit for only three runs off the over, only two off the bat, and picked up a runout from the over in the process.
- Test XI 8/118 (Kallis 35, Lara 19)

Screenshots:
1) Either Gillespie is a terrible fielder, or training as an umpire.
2) Kallis getting a taste of his own medicine, metaphorically and actually.
3) Warney goes to the ground, something normally only done by his trousers.

1st Over bowled by Glenn McGrath
Glenn McGrath started by bowling his usual outside off, short of a good length boring bowling, prompting the batsmen to play the innovative back foot lofted cover drive to him. It didn?t take a wicket, but it did produce some incredible spoons. A full ball to Gilchrist was then dispatched for a six down the ground. And as you do when you are trying to contain a fast-scoring batsman, McGrath bowled a short ball. Gilchrist?s shot was going straight into the crowd?had it not been for a fieldsman (and a cage if you are being technical).
- ODI XI 1/10 Sehwag 1 Tendulkar 1

2nd Over bowled by Jason Gillespie
Gillespie?s first ball claimed the wicket of Sachin Tendulkar, and after a couple of dot balls he was looking to be in some serious business. But Ponting decided that he?d had enough of this defensive play, and hit Gillespie for three controlled consecutive fours.
- ODI XI 1/22 Ponting 12 Sehwag 1

3rd Over bowled by Glenn McGrath
Ricky Ponting showed why he is considered by some to be the best batsman in the world at the moment, with the way that he disposed of the best bowler in the world at the moment in Glenn McGrath. Sehwag also joined in on the act, ensuring that they not only saw McGrath off, they forced the captain to take him off. Partly because of the atrocious economy rate, but mainly because of the two over maximum.
- ODI XI 2/41 Ponting 23 Sehwag 8

4th Over bowled by Muthiah Muralitharan
Murali came to save the day, the controversial Sri Lankan off-spinner removing danger man Ricky Ponting with a 100% legitimate ball. Whether it was a wise decision to take the wicket or not is not so obvious, as it brought one Brian Charles Lara in to bat. Murali finished with a wicket from the over and also the first over not to have been hit for a boundary.
- ODI XI 3/45 Sehwag 10 Lara 2

Screenshots:
1) I?ll let you guess which Australian pace bowler has watched The Incredible Hulk lately.
2) The fielding team get ready to pop the awkward question to the crowd of ?Can we have our ball back please??
3) Gilchrist hits a pull shot which resulted in a catch on the boundary.

5th Over bowled by Shane Warne
Warney was back to his brilliant best, not getting a wicket but only being hit for two singles in the over, spin once again proving vital in this series.
- ODI XI 3/47 Sehwag 11 Lara 3

6th Over bowled by Muthiah Muralitharan
The tight bowling from the spinners continued, with five runs coming from the Muralitharan over. 2-0-9-1 are quite tidy figures, and Murali would be more than happy with them.
- ODI XI 3/52 Sehwag 13 Lara 6

7th Over bowled by Shane Warne
Brian Lara chose to ruin Warney?s figure, but then realised that he was fat enough as he is so ruined his figures instead. But Shane had the last laugh, taking the wicket of Lara with a brilliant ball that broke through Lara?s defensive stroke (a.k.a. the slog sweep). The Test XI were left needing 55 runs from 3 overs (at a run rate of 18.3)
- ODI XI 4/64 Sehwag 14 Dravid 0

8th Over bowled by Jacques Kallis
The chase was on, and Kallis? bowling was good enough to keep the over below the required run rate. But on the positive side for the ODI XI, Sehwag and Dravid each got on to a couple of balls which kept them in with a chance, needing 42 from 2 overs, no easy feat.
- ODI XI 4/77 Sehwag 20 Dravid 7

9th Over bowled by Jason Gillespie
Gillespie seemed to handle the pressure of keeping the runs down with ease, probably because the super-intelligent genius AI designed by EA Sports decided that the way to go was working the singles?the perfect way to score at 21 runs an over. Aren?t they just such clever cookies? As you would expect from a Dravid-Sehwag partnership, Dravid was the one slogging and Sehwag was playing the anchor, Dravid eventually holing out to the man on the boundary (who was wearing sunglasses, which made the catch quite incredible. But who better to have batting at the death than Jacques Kallis. In the form he?s in he could get 34 off the last over with five balls to spare. But the problem for him was that he was also bowling.
- ODI XI 5/85 Sehwag 22 Kallis 1

10th Over bowled by Jacques Kallis
When Jacques Kallis hit himself for six off the first ball, you sensed something magical was about to happen. It wasn?t. The next ball was a dot ball and the dream was over. The rest of the over saw bouncers, yorkers, and the odd good ball ? it had everything. Due to the bouncers and yorkers, Shaun Pollock managed to hit two sixes off the last two balls of the match, which meant nothing except for Kallis? figures changing (and probably improving for that matter).
- ODI XI 6/105 (Ponting 23, Sehwag 22)

Screenshots:
1) Lara plays a shot against Warney that I wish I knew how to play in this game.
2) This catch was the end of Lara, despite Brian arguing with the umpire, claiming that he didn?t hit it.
3) Pollock latches on to one.
