Probably true. Ben Collins is just the main one (and does the powerlaps).

Edit: check page 19 of this thread for myself and Dan tipping Collins back in 2007.

It's no really big secret, I've found something on another forum I go on that is dated August 2005 and mentions Ben Collins.

Also, what Kev said. Having several hundred horsepower under your foot isn't easy to control, especially when the TC is normally turned off. That said, I notice Stig does often miss the apex, the last corner is quite common for that.

That Vietnam special that was on a while back was a cracking episode. Absolutely loved seeing Clarkson fall off his moped :D

I remember on one show, they took some cars to a track, think it was a Beamer, an Audi and a Merc, and I think it was somewhere in Spain. Clarkson of course was driving the car with the most POWER!! (and driving it badly). They stuck an apple on the apex and Clarkson was trying to hit it - Cut to scenes of Clarkson missing and spinning etc etc. The Stig certainly didn't have any trouble hitting it.

But as you say, it is odd that The Stig so often seems to be a bit too lairy into the final corner, I wonder if it's done on purpose for dramatic effect.

Wouldn't be the same with the wheel spin and "Across the line in...!" though would it?

Top Gear back tonight at 8pm with a London-Edinburgh challenge.
Also according to Clarkson they'll be revealing Stig's identity (aye right!)

Looking forward to the new series, had enough of watching repeats on Dave or that bloody awful Fifth Gear.

What's the twist to the London-Edinburgh challenge? Is it just working up the motivation to actually go :p

Well Clarkson said in his column that the Stig would be revealing his identity, which is all tosh obviously, because he knows full well the viewing figures will be up now!

I'm expecting it to be Clarkson under the helmet or something and some clever blue screen. Maybe it's James May...

I guess no one was really expecting Michael Schumacher! I'm gonna be honest and never expected that.. Will people believe it though or not?
