Tournment Ends

I would love to see Dilshan tee-off here, much like he did against our opening bowlers. I might actually be able to enjoy it when it isn't happening to us :p

Howsie added 3 Minutes and 2 Seconds later...

Sehwag has quite a few flaws too. But the guy has had a great test career. Laxman has the flaw, but he has also managed to have a very good test career. These days, technique doesnt matter much.

Most batsmen have flaws in their technique, it's how you hide them and play to your strengths that show how good of a batsmen you are. There wouldn't be too many batsmen in the history of cricket that didn't have a flaw at one point in time.

I'm tempted to say that Sri Lanka have achieved a key objective if the openers survive the first 10 overs. Welegedera got some good shape, but it wore off pretty quickly and while India got away the first time, their tailend was knocked over by the spinners after surviving the second new ball. Although the recovery was remarkable, the times that they gave up wickets were equally notable.

Indeed. A lot of top cricketers get where they are because they dominate opponents. The thing you have to remember is that perfect textbook technique doesn't mean you make runs every game. In fact, the only guy who ever looked like he could had a technique like no one before or since. What is equally true of that man as well as Sehwag and Laxman is how they go about an innings when they win their opening gambits. They can make the opposition pay dearly. In stark contrast it has been said of Boycott, a supreme technician, that paying for not getting him out was exactly what opposition captains were not afraid of.

You an Indian pretending to be an Aussie too? If not, what do you know about Shiv Sena and old fart Thackeray seeking his chance at national news before death of natural causes? And what exactly did you mean Shiv Sena reminded Sachin? Reminded Sachin what..that being an Indian comes before being a Maharashtrian? Smartass.

mate , me a desi too . Currently in us . When did i say that i am an aussie? Pull your head out of the arse .

Seems like someone has bowled sachin. Yes its the shivsena . They have reminded him he is only a cricketer

Whatever he said was direct from his heart nothing with a political point of view.

the political party is now paying the cost for being so much rude.

Cant deny that. Dravid is as good as Sachin in tests. Though I enjoy watching more, Dravid is on the same level, no less.

so as per you guys dravid=sachin , but ponting >dravid therefore ponting >sachin . Nothing but the law of maths put into theory ! LOL fixed

This is kind of a horror start for Mishra isn't it, he hasn't looked very impressive at all.

Wouldn't really blame him, though. He has not played any Test cricket for such a long period of time. Nearly a year since his last Test!

He has been playing first-class cricket no? He never really got settled in during that spell, it was a combination of good batting and a very flat wicket.

I thought so from the end of the first day.

same old, every team does it, murali's coming so make sure the wicket is a pancake.

what a year for Dilshan, I'll admit, I wouldn't have been surprised if his form had started to fade a little.

The last first class match Mishra played was nearly seven months back. Hasn't featured in any game of the present Ranji season, if I remember correctly.

Dhoni FTW. As captain, he really needs to take more responsibility and bat higher up the order. He's definitely the best batsman in the team bar Tendulkar, and now he's become the most consistent.

But the question is, where will he bat? He can't possibly open the innings or bat at no 3, as we already have proven specialists batting in all these positions. Then at no 4 there's Sachin, followed by Laxman and Yuvraj. Disturbing Sachin and Laxman's order isn't a plausible idea, and Yuvraj is doing a fine job as the team's no 6 batsman. Why should we unnecessarily disturb his position then? So yeah, the best place for Dhoni to bat is from all angles no 7. Other positions are too jam packed.

And btw, Laxman, Dravid, and Gambhir > Dhoni any day of the week. One bad innings doesn't make VVS or Gambhir an inconsistent player.
