Under 19 World Cup

Hmmm Nepal lost another match. Hopefully they can rectify their results and perform well in the tournament.

This is why us aussie fans need to enjoy our domination at the moment because soon we will be lucky to be in the top 3 teams.

There's a brief report of the days action over at my site.

Great to see the Aussie boys get off to the perfect start. Weren't so good in the warm up matches but pulled it together in the match that counts. Moises Henriques our U/19 Freddie made 37 and took 3/37

Great start by Aus. What a talent that Cooper is, NSW could use his batting skills right now. Henriques well what can I say brillant as always although bit disappointing he didn't make a big score. 3 wickets, 2 being the top order shows why we feel he will be our all rounder in the future.
Also isn't it great to see Bangladesh beating sides that are test nations. The furute of cricket is looking bright.

six of the runs off Henriques were sundries so in reality he took 3/31 :D

a question to aussie1st...if Henriques has a really good U19 tournament will the NSW selectors give him a regular opportunity in both Pura and ING Cups?

Its hard to call. Simmons or Richards should make way for Henquries in ING, this would strengthen the bowling and batting.

I can't see NSW rushing Henquries into Pura cup however, as Katich/Clarke will be back in the team and our current all rounder in Lambert has been the form bowler. We will also have Clark/Bracken possible returning so there isn't any bowling spot open. If both Clark and Bracken tour I guess we could try Henquries ahead of Bird/Bollinger but that would mean one of those two miss out on gaining experience.

Henriques is performing well currently, I don't see him being a regular soon though. He's still very young, despite having alot of experience against adult players of top quality in Grade for quite a few years. See how he continues to perform, as rushing can often overexcite a player. The Under 19 World Cup is a brilliant tournament for the future of cricket in lesser countires and development of youth in more advanced countries, however it's not a completely convincing basis in which to be pencilling in players for the Domestic Comps straight away

Well, India won their first game comprehensively.

P. Chawla had good figures of 3-38.

And we chased that low score very well too. ;)

Thanks for the update Andrew.
Today set of games were the boring ones where you knew who was going to win from the start. Although I must say England did struggle in their match.
