His batting form was mediocre when compared to the sort of batting you actually want at the top of the order. The fact is that he wasn't picked for being a great opener, he was picked because he was an all-rounder who could slog.

Wright is more than an all-rounder who can slog. Not saying he is a world class batsman, but he can be so deadly, he had just scored a great ton vs Gloucs.

James Anderson gave a shy wave at first, but eventually signed autographs for two blokes dressed as Baywatch babes.

Graeme Swann gave an elaborate wave, to a big cheer.

Paul Collingwood pretended to be on a zimmer frame as we sang happy birthday to him.
