West Indies in England

Go Ashley!!!!!!

I am sure a few of our moderators have had their mouths zipped up as a result of this.

And duffarama you were right. Giles has got England out of trouble on several occassions, this one being the latest one.

also he had chanderpaul out lbw twice today( on 57 and 85), and was very unlucky to have both appeals turned down by mr. harper.

1st Test Stumps Day 2

England 1st Inning 568 (Strauss 137, Key 221, Vaughan 103) (Collins 4/113, Bravo 3/74)
West Indies 1st Inning 416 (Gayle 66, Chanderpaul 128*) (Giles 4/129, Flintoff 3/25)
England 2nd Inning 71/0

England lead by 223 runs with 10 wickets remaining

Sorry, although I'm well pleased that Giles got his wickets, imo he is not a world class wicket taking spinner, nowhere near the likes of Warne, Murali, Saqlain (maybe not of latter), Harby or Kumble. He is more of a containing bowler. Besides, the wickets of Gayle and Lara were well iffy. He's just the best of a poor bunch of spin options we have in England at the moment.
Having said that, great to see England on top again, well-deserving of their current position as 2nd in the ICC Test rankings;) :) .

yeah good point vaughan, overall i like harper as an umpire, altho some of his decisions can be abit dodgy!

1st Test Stumps Day 4

England 1st Inning 568 (Strauss 137, Key 221, Vaughan 103) (Collins 4/113, Bravo 3/74)
West Indies 1st Inning 416 (Gayle 66, Chanderpaul 128*) (Giles 4/129, Flintoff 3/25)
England 2nd Inning 325/5 Declare (Vaughan 101*) (collins 3/62)
West Indies 2nd Inning 114/3 (Gayle 81)

West Indies require another 364 runs with 7 wickets remaining

Having said all I did earlier in this thread I've got to say he was getting some good turn today, and how the umpire didn't give Chanderpaul out when he gloved it to Key is beyond me. Also, good to see your namesake back in the runs vaughanie:) .

Well, I've gotta hold my hands up and say well bowled Ashley Giles, a well deserved 5 for. Just hope this gives him the confidence to bowl like this on a regular basis.
Well done to England on another good win; unlucky to WI, it was a very entertaining Test Match.

chanderpaul should of been out to giles when it hit his glove and was caught he was licky to get the score he got
