PUNTER FALLS SHORT

Ricky Ponting has become the third Aussie batsmen to get a start then fall short of a 50. Ponting was drawn into playing at a wide ball from Banks. Ricky tried to smash it through the covers and got a faint nick through to Ramdin for his troubles. The Aussies now have lost their top 3 batsmen and will have to rely on their middle order to get the runs plus take the advantage.

Last Wicket: R.Ponting: c D.Ramdin b O.Banks

D.Martyn 23*
M.Hussey 0*

HUSSEY REACHES 50

Mike Hussey has finally done what all the other couldn't, reached his 50. Hussey has been playing a different style of cricket to his normal game. Instead of pushing and prodding the ball into gaps he is smashing almost every ball avaliable over the infield for 4 or 6. He has given 1 chance however, an edge that went throught the slips when he was on 43...

M.Hussey 55*
S.Watson 4*
AUS:4/251

Lead of 18

WATSON DEPARTS EARLY

Shane Watson has finally been bowled for 14. He played a good supporting role to Mike Hussey but has got out at a crucial stage in the match. He still batted well and was unlucky to be yorked so early while he was still getting his eye in. The next man in has sent shivers up the spine of Shiv Chanderpaul... Adam Gilchrist, The man who made a game breaking 76 last innings in under 60 balls.

MR CRICKET REACHES 100 AS AUSSIES DECLARE

Mike Hussey has finally reached his well earned century. Hussey batted superbly, He counter-attacked everything that the Windies could throw at him and scored very quickly. The bowlers were forced onto the back foot because of Hussey and the Aussie are now In a strong position coming into the second Windie innings. Signs of wear are also now starting to show on the pitch...

C'mon Windies! Around the wicket and swing it away, he is useless there!!! :)

lol, I take it your going for the Windies here :)

Your right about that ball, lost 2 wickets with that one outswinger in that area :(

Once again brilliant presentation with the images and reporting! Lara deserted by his lower order teammates with what must have been either a fantastic bowling performance from Lee or a heartless fight from the Windies;) Intelligent declaration seeing as some play being lost to rain and looking to capitalize on the West Indies low confidence from the Hussey enslaught. Weird why Tino Best wasn't used for more than five overs...

Thanks mate :cheers

I was also surprised best hasn't got another bowl. He bowled a good line and length and got the ball to move around. And yes, thats exactly what I hope to do with the declaration.

LEE CLAIMS EARLY WICKET

Brett Lee has claimed the Aussies first wicket. He got the in-form Windies batasmen Hinds to prod at a ball outside off. Wavell was beaten by the cut and got a nick to Ponting at 2nd slip. The Aussies now have the danger man Lara at the crease who could change the game in time to come...

B.Lee 1/12 (7)
G.McGrath 0/12 (7)

Last Wicket: W.Hinds: c R.Ponting b B.Lee

C.Gayle 21*
B.Lara 0*
WIN: 1/24

LUNCH DAY 4

B.Lara 1*
C.Gayle 23*
W.Hinds 2
WIN 1/28

B.Lee 1/13 (8)
G.McGrath 0/15 (9)

Summary: The early wicket of Hinds seems to have really boosted the Aussies confidence going into the Lunch break. Both bowlers from each end are causing problems for the Windie batsmen who can't cope with the seam and swing from McGrath and Lee.
