And North failed in every Test Australia lost.

Hussey was in poor form in the Ashes (and beyond), no doubt about it, but NOW he is a much better batsmen.

The batsmen that were critical in the Ashes were Ponting and Clarke. Ponting had to set an early foundation and Clarke was the key for middle order partnerships.

Every "good" performance from North was when the English bowlers were depleted and they were suitable batting conditions.

AND he has no off-side game what so ever.

Remmember how Hayden got his form back after 05 Ashes? Well Hussey is doing exactly the same.

You seem to be forgetting how DOMMINANT Hussey was in his prime.

Hussey just generally failed. How come Hussey failed during these beautiful batting conditions when the English attack was depleted?

You seem to forget Hussey's prime was about three years ago.

North has no off side game? You officialy have no idea, he was blasting through the covers a la Justin Langer.

He was blasting? That's an absolute joke.
He left about 99% of the balls in the off-sde.

If you haven't been watching the current series in India, Hussey is BACK in form. Never failed once. Just like the old Huss.

He was in relatively good form in the one dayers prior to his failures against New Zealand, South Africa x2 and England so that argument doesn't stick I am afraid.

Just look at their Test records, Hussey was the greatest middle order batsmen, so what makes you think he can't do it again?

Form is temporary but class is permanent.

Form certainly is temporary for Hussey - he couldn't bring his ODI form from the Australian summer over to South Africa in the tests when we needed him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did have a good summer considering two of the more weaker teams are coming out.

Lol give up, you can't argue against these points:

1. Hussey has a MUCH better Test record, even if he has been out of form (which is temporary).
2. Hussey is a real match winner, name a Test match which North was the match winner?
3. What ever happened to Hayden after 2005?

1. Hussey has played more games, that is quite logical for Hussey to have a better test record but for the record North averages 47 and Hussey 52. Not much between them :)
2. 4th Test: England v Australia at Leeds, Aug 7-9, 2009 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com 4/151 North and Clarke consolodated with a 152 run partnership and North bats through until 445 - we win by an Innings and Hussey failed...again.
3. Hayden has nothing to do with this. I could point you towards Mark Waugh's decline if you like.

1. And you think that's good?

2. Ponting's 78 was the key, North was 11 from 40 balls at the end of the 1st day, battling hard to survive, and guess what, Clarke and North take full advantage of a 2nd days batting strip.

I don't know about you, but that's usually a good thing for a test batsmen. They work hard during the tough times, and prosper during the easier conditions.

He has played 6 tests, you have no idea if you want to start criticising that.

Taking advantage is what good batsman do. We were 4/151 FFS and you criticise North for surviving until the end of the days play, you really are confirming you have no idea - did you expect him to come and start swinging wildly at the ball?

Ponting's innings was definately crucial because if he gets out early then Hussey comes in and goes as quick as he comes and suddenly 4/151 looks better than 4/50 so I will give you that.

All in all, it's a joke to hold North ahead of Hussey.

Anyway if Clarke is injured, there is no reason to be having this debate.
