Watched. the 20/20 match tonight. Nathan Reardon is a terrible player. So if he can score 140 against the Windies they're screwed against Australia.

Reardon is more for the shorter forms where he can just slog away.

Good to hear Gayle is back, he should give them more confidence.

I honestly believe things are going to be closer than a lot of people are predicting. The Australian bowling line up isn't as strong as it has been in recent years and there are a few batsmen who really need to prove themselves. If they go in expecting to win the Windies could surprise and be competitive

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't rip through them. All it takes is Johnson off his game, Siddle is up and down which puts all the pressure on Hilfy.

Agree. We saw it during the Ashes. Hilfy was consistent, but not consistently awesome. Siddle and Mitch blow hot and cold and a couple of bad sessions of bowling cost us dearly early in the series. I saw an interview with Siddle recently saying that he could be a hit the spot, line and length bowler if they needed him to, implying they hadn't wanted him to do that role or he thought it wasn't necessary. Well it would have been nice for some control at the other end when Mitch was spraying it all over Cardiff and Lord's. Anyway...

Yep, the attack will blow hot and cold. Kinda like the old Brett Lee/Jason Gillespie/Kasprowicz years. Gillespie was like Siddle, goes past the edge a lot it seems but often couldn't sustain the pressure for long enough to get the wickets the hard way. Johnson is like the old Lee. Capable of getting a wicket at any time, but often quite loose. And Hilfy is the new Kasprowicz, the outswinging steady bowler but susceptible to being attacked. If only we had the new McGrath and a new Warne in the team to cover the gaps.

the problem is even if johnson does have an off day and siddle isn't bowling his best most of the windies team is quite adept at giving their wicket away.

johnson could bowl half bungers all day, but if Gayle, Sarwan or Chanderpaul don't get in the rest will slash at terrible wide ones and slap long hops to midwicket.

for the windies to stand a chance Sarwan has to show the scores he made earlier in the year was not just good form but was him coming into his peak as a good player. Ramidin is beginning to show a bit of mettle these days too so he could play an important part.

Honestly I don't see most of these games going into the fifth day. Windies batsmen haven't had a lot of cricket and this is a very strong Australian attack.

better attack then the one WI faced when Australia came to the Caribbean?

Lee,Clark and Johnson.

Yeah , johnson should be dropped immediately from tests atleast! Conceding over 5 an over and losing the ashes is not good enough???

Bolli should take up his place!

Yet to be seen if there are 3 bowlers in such good form, but at least they'll have more than 3 bowlers.
