West Indies Tour of England - May to June 2012

I think they'll take a lead of 150 to be fair. This could be over in another day.

Seems I was pretty spot on :p

So was I :p

I think my 100-150 lead 'prediction' may prove about right

155 runs. It would be good every now and then to see Swann up the order, I think it will help in Tests and could even shape him into a much needed number seven for ODIs. I would seriously consider the order being Swann > Bresnan > Broad, but then I probably wouldn't have all three so it would be Swann > Broad (/Bresnan) > tail.

So far Bresnan 0/39 and a duck. England will no doubt want at least 3-4 down by close now without windies very far in front, if at all. Anything more than that will be a bonus, anything less than that may prove a bit too close for comfort and draw the windies back into it. Anything more than that and it may be all over by lunch tomorrow.

although my windies extras is already looking shady.

Picking Bresnan ahead of Finn was a very poor shout for me. This is Finn's home ground, he's clearly a wicket taker, and potentially someone who will lead England's attack. Often English young players don't seem to make particularly great starts to their careers compared to other nations, instead growing into the level. He's one of the few who has just had pretty much continued success. After his winter, I just don't see how he didn't earn that last spot.

If it's for Bresnan's batting, then with Swann and Broad already in there, that's some seriously weak selections and lack of faith in top order batsman.

.

Haha, yeah right :p First innings is easy to call. Think Windies might end up bundled out for something under 200 after a decentish start. Shiv might dig in again, but I reckon he'll get a jaffa from someone early. Swanny might pick him up.

England to then probably tick them fairly quick. Strauss will get out cheap. Cook might still be there at the end with KP teeing off with no pressure on.

Yeah that might well happen. Well it was a tough one, but that's now a duck, 0-38 and a dropped catch for Bresnan so far haha Still, that's 2 that have gone down so far, although missed the replay so can't remember if KP's drop carried.

I reckon Bresnan will take 5-fer since PD's writing him off :p

Yeah probably. I'm actually not writing him off, he's a decent player, but I think it was a weak move to play him ahead of Finn for this match.

I assume he might actually attack the stumps though which England haven't done enough of with the new ball considering they're 140 runs in front.

I like bresnan, he always contributes, and an average under 25 when both broad and anderson have ones over 30 does not scream "drop me." I don't think you need 3 strike bowlers anyway, sometimes having a guy who is happy to probe away consistently can be worth his weight in gold in a test (well, maybe half his weight in bresnan's case, still a lot though)

Battle of the mockers. Can't beat an Englishman at mockers cricket :p

----------

I think his test bowling average of 25 suggest he's hardly a weak link, not to mention the 11/11 win ratio with him in the side. I just think Finn is a better prospect and earned a crack at the Windies at home in bowling overhead conditions on his home surface with the winter he had.

----------

It begins :p
