West Indies Tour of England - May to June 2012

Another TMS text chat message from yours truly. Man in the know I am... about what Gooch is doing :p

Ah well, Shiv yet again proving his quality. Didn't really agree with the plans to him, but he makes it difficult. Didn't attack his stumps enough I feel, but still, well played Shiv.

West Indies were always going to find it hard to claw back a 155 run deficit, I wonder if they wouldn't be better moving Chanderpaul up the order rather than have him fighting rearguard actions all the time and no substance above nor much below him.

Don't think it's too hard to predict that the speed with which the match concludes depends very much on Chanderpaul, can't see Samuels, Sammy and Ramdin doing too much to set a total, BUT if Chanderpaul can get a hundred and a couple of supporting innings could see as much as 200+ for England to chase.

Personally I think England will face something around 120-150 target

They were talking about this the other day. I think if Shiv wants to bat 5, he bats 5. No point taking your only world class batsman and then taking him out of his comfort zone.

Sarwan doing well at Leics...

Game just keeps progressing, difficult to interpret this so far. I think we've just done what we've needed to so far. Got a decent lead, bowled well on a pitch that isn't doing much, even if it is swinging for the first 30 overs or so of the new ball.

Although he got a good wicket today, still not convinced Bresnan was the right selection, just a bit too defensive for my liking. Finn or even Onions would have been better, though I think any of those three would do a good job. So there's no bad selection, just maybe not the right one!

Yeah I think that sums it up fairly well.

Don't say that to Otis Gibson and the WICB they might ask you for an apology, I have been following his games and let face it we all know he got game, except for the Gibson and WICB of course!

I still say regardless of the outcome of this test Bresnan looks the weak link in the team, he may get a wicket or 2 but looks ordinary, by his selection I assume he is the best out of the rest? Am happy our young batsmen did not have to deal with his pace:D

We've not hard a great All-Rounder since Flintoff, but Bresnan has fit the hole reasonably well so far. I can see where you're coming from, because when the rest of the team is so good, somebody who looks 'weak' in that team would probably be seen as a very good player in a team that isn't playing as well.

It would be good to bring somebody like a Trego in, but I think the best option would be to get Broad to focus on his batting, so that he can comfortably bat 7, and then we'd have room for another seamer/spinner depending on the pitch, however i can't see that happening.

Right :yes Especially your 37 year old world class batsman. Better to give the young pups the chance higher up the order, they'll get more out of it in the long run.

The thing about Sarwan is that he was always the third or fourth best Test batsman. You knew instantly he was good, but you were always waiting for him to prove it with big scores. He'd go missing all the time; that was especially evident when they booted Gayle and discovered he couldn't carry the team like Shiv. If he's at his best, he could certainly fit into the team and improve the top order, but I'm not so certain he'd be categorically incapable of getting out for not enough.

Looking at a defeat, but how big we will have to wait and see.At least so far one Inning from England we go England Below 400 .

England is a Very Very hard Team on there own Home condition, I dotn see this West Indies Team beating them, but I hope they put up a better fight in th other 2 matches, they came back slightly in the 3rd Morning , If not been 15 run infront with 7 wickets in Hand, England could of gotten 450 + Runs.
Kirk edward seem to like dead pitches in Caribbean, Bangladesh and India where he made all his 100's and 50's at. but England seem to fast for him, West Indies got to rethink about him.
Barath and Bravo NEEDS to carry on they are capable of making runs, they need to stay around. Powell was a Waste in this Team, Fudani should replace him. Ramdin need to start making Runs. Sammy his 2nd Match against England in England in Test, Last time he got 8 wickets in the Match, current match he got 2. whle Young Gabriel needs to bowl more he picks up 3 wickets, and Roach was expnsion but pitch up 3 wickets, samuel got 1 and edwards got one.
I think If Rampal is fit he replace F Edwards, while Fudani to replace Powell and Deonarine to Replace K Edward for the 2nd Test. reason for k Edward he Failed 4 Times, 2 against englanf lion and now against england.
A Barath, Fudani, D Bravo, S Chanderpaul, Deonarine, Samuels, Ramdin, Sammy, Rampal, Roach and Gabreil my choice for the 2nd Test. Maybe change Samuels or Deonarine with shillingford, Depends.
Promote Chanderpaul up the Order to at least 4th.

I don't think Edwards has really looked fully fit. Doesn't seem to be getting any real pace at all.

I also don't think Gayle would really make too much difference, he's so far removed from test cricket now. Sarwan however has scored runs in England, and would definitely strengthen the batting lineup. Seems to be in form too.

West Indies have done ok in this match considering the very minor preparation, and unlike India kept plugging away when they could have let things slip away. It would be unlikely they get anything from this, but they've at least got themselves in the game if they can see through the morning tomorrow.
