West Indies tour of New Zealand

Bloody disgraceful bowling from Gillespie, Southee should come straight back in for the next test or if there is a bit of turn any spiner not named Jeetan Patel.

Great hundred though by Taylor, even though it represents another embarrassing new low for the Black Caps.

What do you have against Jeetan 'Dave' Patel?

Why does McCullum call him Dave anyway?

EDIT: 2 wickets to Vettori!!!

Great stuff from Shiv and Taylor. Really surprised by Taylors batting, he is the best WI tailender but I didn't expect this. Ramdin, well it was close but he still didn't do anything in my opinion. and like I said Marshall will be the 1st one to get out to a spinner.

Awesome stuff by Taylor well played. Well its just batting practice for NZ now we need it as well, important innings for How also.

I don't see much point having a 4th quick even if there is juice. Vettori isn't going to be dropped and he's going to give himself 20 overs at least, while one of the 4 pacemen is never going to get a new ball spell and probably bowl 10 overs tops; in today's case it was Franklin batting at 7 and operating at 3rd change, but he might as well have taken the new ball because Gillespie should never have bowled at all. Plus, you have Ryder in there who can handle a spell if there's some swing about, but if it's really green, it shouldn't take more than 3 pacemen to get wickets coming. Might as well have another batsman to counter those conditions. The only justification for that extra bowler is on a bare flat wicket, but the extra guy has to be able to do something with the old ball. If there's a quick in NZ that does, they haven't picked him up yet.

o and I forgot, congrats to Shiv for passing Sobers on the all time WI run scorers list.

Gillespie was a stupid selection. His bowling was a disgrace. Why Martin and Southee got dropped for him i'll never know.

Vettori was the destroyer. I knew he'd take a nice bag. Well done to him, bowled beautifully as always and always attacked.

How is hopeless, I hope that's his last innings. Bell should replace him immediately. Now Taylor's injured and Oram can't play the next match it's the typical NZ Injury disaster. I would have sent in Franklin as Nightwatchman over Mills but he did get a good ball and can't be blamed.

Good to see Mills bowl well, he was accurate and the pick of the pacemen by FAR! Franklin was rusty, but will no doubt get back into the groove, no swing for him so not so great, O'Brien was steady and got a key wicket. Just Gillespie letting the team down.

Well played Taylor for the hundred, but you have to say he was given some pretty easy bowling. NZers obviously had the draw on the mind. Can't afford to let that happen. It's typical of us though to go so good and get a side in such a bad position and then throw it away.

His finger got dislocated and it's chipped near the knuckle. I didn;t see it live, I only saw bits and pieces towards the end of the day. He can and probably will play in the next match and will still bat this one. Personally, i'd save him for the ODI series.

Taylor is ok for the next match. Gillespie going for over 10 runs in his wicketless 21 overs. Franklin not looking his best.

I like how, but its time for him to go. Bell or Cumming please

What an Innings from Taylor, it would have to be one of the most entertaining ones I have seen in a long time:clap

Maybe some of the NZ batsmen can take a leaf out of his book, if your aggressive punish the bad balls and leave the good one's. But to be fair there wasn't many of them. Well played Jerome Taylor.

How must be close to getting the boot now, and with Martin Guptil scoring a century today he might just be the man to replace him. Or maybe they could go back to Bell or Redmond. Hopefully they choose Guptil.

Southee and Martin have to play the next test two, Mark Gillespie is useless. He just seems to have no control at all.

1.Guptil
2.McIntosh
3.Flynn
4.Taylor(Broom)(Kane Williamson);) If Taylor can't play.
5.Ryder
6.Oram
7.McCullum
8.Franklin
9.Vettori
10.Southee
11.O'Brien

Jesse Ryder can bowl a few overs if we need him. The only thing about that team would be that Southee really isn't that fit and he would probally struggle quite badly.

I agree with that team, but I would say we bring Broom in for Oram no matter if Oram is fit to play as a batsman.

Let me get this straight? You want a guy who only just scored his first domestic century and has a first class average of 25 to open the batting for us? I'm glad you're not a selector.

Oram can't bowl, i'd rather have him playing a full part in the ODIs. Tests aren't as important for us, our ranking is horrible.

And I wouldn't pick Williamson, he's rather new and hasn't got a great deal of FC experience; Broom has been a solid performer at FC level and should get the opportunity at Test level.
