West Indies tour of New Zealand

Well that's the percentage that they said for Oram playing this game....

And I think the 12 selected for this test were meant to be the same twelve for the next test....

Well Oram needs to be replaced and if we're not using Taylor he does too, so they can play Fulton and Bell if they wish.

Why should Matthew Bell be given another chance, he was playing better last season and he looked like rubbish at test level. Give a younger guy a chance to prove himself, Guptil or maybe Watling. Or maybe Redmond who was starting to look alot better, just please get rid of Jamie How.

I don't agree. Bell scored 107 and a 69 I think last season for us, both those scores are well over How's 10's he's been scoring consistently. I'm not someone who cares how it looks, I care about results and Bell performs. Name an opening batsman who can boast a hundred for us in the past 5 years. Matthew Bell, Stephen Fleming and Mark Richardson are the only 3. Fleming didn't usually play there and Richerdson has been gone for ages. Link to stats

While looking this up it made me stumble upon Hamish Marshall. This guy scored 2 hundreds in 13 games against good sides. Both were at number 3. Then the selectors picked him as an opener and ruined a good player for us. Why do they do this all the time?

Sehwag performs, would you replace him from the Indian team because he has a poor technique?

I think the most important thing for NZ cricket is picking players who are going to score hundreds. Bell is the best player in the country for this and should be immediately selected. He's experienced and knows the standard of International Cricket.

ABANDONED! Knew it.

I'm sorry, since when did Sehwag have a bad technique. He has a sublime technique as far as I can remember, just a tad reckless and brain dead sometimes.

Sehwag doesn't always move his feet though does he. I'm watching highlights of him in the last session last night and there's minimal if any foot movement.

You don't score a record number of domestic centuries, 1000+ runs in a calendar year and consistently score runs if there's a problem with your technique.

The rain has played havoc again. Nearly 2 and half days has been lost due to rain in this test match. For New Zealand Ryder, Flynn and Vettori were the top performers and for West Indies, Taylor and Chanderpal shared the honours.

I hate that the match had to be called of and that 2.5 days were lost but this will make for a exciting last test. I just hope that the weather cooperates and that 5 full days can be played.

For the WI the only change I can see is Benn being brought in for Baker, baring any injuries that is. NZ will be getting Oram back so they will be bolstered with that but I'm not sure about hoe well Taylor will play with that injured finger.

The weather in Napier is normally good I cannot recall any matches in recent times which have been effected by rain there (watch it rain now).

As for the NZ team I don't think it will change outside of possible injures, although Gillespie bowled terrible I think he should have more than 1 innings to prove himself.

I don't think there was a whole lot of reason to drop Chris Martin for Mark Gillespie in the first place. It's not like Gillespie has been toiling without reward, he played one domestic match and got called back up.

I think the selectors thought Martin was holding back. I sort of felt Martin was playing within himself against Australia (pace was down). He could be a better bowler than he is and thats possibly what the selectors want. Well i hope that's the case.

They wanted someone with a bit more pace, Vettori aside the rest of our bowlers are all the same pace. At least with him and Franklin (left arm) our attack is varied.

Martin most the time is closer to Gillespie's pace but in Australia he was way down.

keep gillespie he bowled alright i thought
and at least he can bat
hows last chance, hes a good player just needs to prove it
and if taylor cant play DO NOT! bring back sinclair or bell
i can not forgive them after last years england series
could chuck how down to 4 and bring back redmond
but then thats another combination
ahwell who knows atm
new zealand are gona struggle for the next 2 years
then ryder, taylor, flynn will be on top of there game and we will have the best middle order

Woah Hamish Marshall averaged 38.75 in 13 test matches where he played around 1-3. Why did he refuse his contract and why try play for England?

He refused his contract because he got forced to open and then dropped all together because he failed at a position he had never played in before. Typical treatment of NZ players during the Bracewell era.

Fulton is on standby for Taylor and Martin has joined the squad. Oram is out and will try be back for the T20's and ODIs and Franklin has a minor injury after being hit in the chest.

I was just reading the year's top wicket takers and NZers:
Vettori was 4th with 50 wickets at 25
Martin was 12th with 34 wickets at 31 (We just dropped him for some strange reason)
O'Brien at 14th with 31 wickets at 21
Mills at 18th with 26 wickets at 28 (Dropped in Australia but back now hopefully)
Oram at 30 with 17 wickets at 20.

That bowling attack seems to be able to select itself. So why do they keep fiddling with it.

Then you look at highest run getting batsmen and you go all the way down to 18 to find Taylor and 19 to get McCullum. 24th is Vettori which really sums up the fact that we have a decent bowling line-up which isn;t backed up by the batsmen. If we had better performing batsmen we could be a middle ranked team.
