What games have you been playing recently?

Yeah, a mate of mine imported GOW collection from Game.co.uk and it took several weeks to arrive. Not keen on that.

I'm the opposite of a sci-fi fan. I can't stand it in any medium. I've never seen Star Wars and have only seen the first LOTR film a few times, and have never enjoyed it enough to watch the second.

I don't really like RPGs either. Hated Dragon Age to death and haven't touched one since.

What's Mass Effect like? I've never fully enjoyed sci-fi, in anything really, so can it appeal to someone like me?

The trilogy looks a really good deal at $90 so I may have to pick it up when it comes out.

it's amazing. the emotional aspect of the subplots and ethical dilemmas it offers give as much as a good book, so for that reason alone i'd keep playing the series with average gameplay.

but the gameplay isn't average. it's really good. Probably my favourite game series ever (only played 2 and 3 though)

The third is still an excellent game and the multiplayer alone could see you sink 100 hours into it (or not play it all), the very ending was, quite frankly, a little pants. I see the reasons why it's weak and I get it, just think it could have been executed better. however the entire game can be viewed as an ending as the subplots are resolved spectacularly.

90$ is a fine price for all 3 because it comes with pretty much all of the pay for dlc. and will be excellent value for money.

OK I reckon if I can fit in some time over Christmas I'll pick up the trilogy. As I said even if I don't like it it's still got good resale value.

Definitely going to give Arkham City a go first though, probably Uncharted 3 too.

Thinking of picking up LA Noire: Complete Edition and Deus Ex in a sale, anyone who's played them able to give me some advice?

You might be able to get Deus Ex games for even more cheap prices (even though it is only a $3.5 difference each for the first two games) sometime later. If you don't mind the graphics, Deus Ex is one solid game with a non-linear storyline, plethora of ways to carry out your objectives, and just great experience in general.

Played a lot of Skyrim, very close to the completion of the main storyline

I'm finding it a bit hard to get into Skyrim - I'm mildly disappointed how similar to Oblivion it is - but I'll definitely give it a good chance; I don't generally give up on games I've been tracking for ages.

I've become hooked on Company of Heroes all over again, and I've just bought Dead Island on Steam Sale so that might take over for a while.

Before that, Xcom EU was my exclusive game, and then Fifa 13 took over for quite a long time.

All of the above will have a job getting game time if Elite Dangerous makes its KS total...

Was Dragon Age an RPG with a similar system to Knights of the Old Republic? I mean all dice rolls and no direct control over whether a shot or swing hits or misses? I hate that sort of RPG as well - but ones where you actually get to swing the sword or fire the arrow yourself, I enjoy those a lot.

Campaign Mode. The only thing I liked about MW is it's story in campaign even though it is short but I still enjoy it.
