What is the theory of the other mafia team teaming up with you? It's mafia A v/s B and both versus town. Have to eliminate both the teams in order to win.

Both the Mafia teams are trying to off Trump and his administration, by one team joining us townies we can eliminate the other team. Then we only have one Mafia team to content with and the Mafia only has Trump and his administration to deal with.
It makes perfect sense for two parties (one Mafia and townies ) to work together.

Bottom line, in an open-setup if a claim is made and no one explicitly counter-claims then it is believable until contested. Can't decide if it's bold or just plain stupid to do it at this stage, very unlikely a majority will be reached today added to the fact that not much pressure has been heaped onto the two claimants, so I don't see the necessity personally.
The manner in which it was done, merely quoting the OP and emboldening the role (in Rudolph's case), was strange, but for some reason Villain felt compelled to claim too.

Then what ensues is a furore surrounding said claims and diversion from talk concerning anything else. Regardless of whether it's a deliberate ploy or not, these kind of situations are quite frustrating.

I agree Villain has followed some weird ways, but if there is no counter claim on his same role, he goes in the list as solid town.

Who's claim do you reckon is fake? Nobody has CCd. Aspirin has said he has reason to believe that Rudolph's shouldn't be trusted, but doesn't want to divulge anything. Anyone refuting a claim has to fully explain themselves surely.

I would say both the claims came a bit weird. I think claiming this early will help mafia in the long run.

I had a read through, and it's basic Day 1 stuff - no one to point fingers at just yet. Sure, I find Villain's activity to be off but it's kind of a normality to have him overreact. I don't know what to make of it right now. I certainly don't like his "defeatist" attitude though.

Wait wth! Only just fully come to terms with the unusual quirks of this particular game and it seems that plurality voting is in effect?? That puts a whole new slant on things altogether. I like the uniqueness of the set-up but there is going to be a lot of deliberating on my part, guess the deadline is there for a reason.
Unless we get a counter-claim or something else unexpected I'm comfortable with a no lynch as it's only allowed on Day 1.

Not really. It's the way he is getting frustrated after being targeted by more than one person. Add to it the fact he claimed to be town in just his second or third post is what is making him seem fishy, at least to me.

Why am I feeling that this is true in this game? not sure whether it's a plan or coincidence, but both Asprin and JR are leaning towards the possibility of those claims to be a fake one. It's surprising on one side.

Doesn't look like anybody has any reason to pin anything concrete on anybody yet, so I suggest everyone else does the same, for fear of a random lynch.

As Loco correctly points out, it's a plurality, so it's pretty easy for the mafia to get someone out of the picture. I don't think pressure lynches are of much use in this game as you can seemingly quickhammer with just one vote. We need to be decisive and direct if we want to get rid of mafia during the day. At this stage, a no lynch is the best option for us given that today is the only day we'll be able to do it.
