Just so you know, I am in no way, shape or form a layman in cricket, I know all about its intricacies as I used to be a big cricket fan myself before I discovered just how awesome football is.
Sure, the last day of a test match can be exciting but the thing is it takes 4 days to get there, not a lot of people in today's world have 5 free days to burn. Even ODI's are ridiculously long and T20's are just plain cringeworthy what with all the cheerleaders and stuff.
But to each their own I guess, I come from a country where cricket rules the roost and football is badly neglected(the standard of football in the I-league is worse than even the Conference), which probably makes me hate cricket so much more.
Which begs the question wtf am I doing on this forum, got no idea myself lol.
Yeah that is the beauty of test cricket, it takes place in chunks and session by session which is why every ball as a spectator you dont have to watch. Simple be at home, work, wherever and you can follow it on cricinfo or wherever and the thrill still exists. At the crucial point one could tune right in. Test cricket match is like fine 100 year wine you drink it when it is ready but you dont have to spend every second of the past 100 years. Tune in and out when you want. In terms of viewing I feel Test cricket offers me more options that football. One can watch it when free adn still savor it, unlike football, which if u are not free for those 1 and half hrs, forget about it.
I understand being from India you are among the category that has been caught up by the aggressive marketing the channel has done to present EPL as 'the' thing in India and younger viewers. Nothing wrong with that, of course.
However once the charm of a totally foreign league wears off, maybe you will re-discover what a great sport cricket is.
Till then enjoy the football
