Ganguly can be better than Raina.. We can have his experience in the squad! But if Kaif comes back, Rao also might have to make way in the final XI because Ganguly and Kaif are valuable cricketers!

Definitely! I too feel his working with Chappell might have changed him! He did not care much about his form and game too much before Chappell came! Now he is more and more concerned about his batting form! Thats what Chappell has made it out to be!

Ganguly is back with a bang..with a century for East Zone. In this innings he played some vintage Ganguly shots through the off side and he scored 117 runs of only 140-odd balls. He rarely mistimed a shot. He was also dominant. The Prince of Kolkata is back!

One thing that irks me a lot of guys like Ganguly is he doesnt derive motivation & determination from playing for the country but when he is pushed to a harsh corner and is stripped of his place in the team (and possible big bucks!), he roars back and scores big runs! Why is that?
Anyway to furyfoxx, Sreesanth is a faster bowler than Agarkar and has more pace! He should be tried as the opening bowler with Pathan! Zaheer Khan started off the same way opening against Kenya and Australia in the Champions Trophy in 2000 and succeeded in a big way!

I dont think Ganguly should open the innings. He should come in the middle order, so we have something big to fall back on. I really dont want Sehwag batting at number 4 because:
Sehwag needs to make full use of the field restrictions. Otherwise its a big advantage to the bowling side. I dont really care if he gets i=out in the first 15-20 overs if he makes 70+ runs!
We all know that Sehwag, at times, can get out to rash strokes. Say we are 60/3. Do u really want Sehwag to play a rash stroke and make that 60/4?? I dont think so.
Saurav has had some of his best times off late at the number 3 slot. He should regain that slot, and he seems to be very comfterbale when playing there, rather than against the fast and swinging bowlers of maharoof and vass.

Playing all 6 batsman, Dhoni and then Yadav would be a bad idea! If we want to play Yadav, drop a batsman! Going in with 4 specialist bowlers itself is not ideal. Going with 3 specialist bowlers (excluding Yadav who is not a specialist bowler!) is foolish!

yadav has to be selected as a batting all-rounder..with his type of bowling he's liable to get hammered on sub-continental pitches..

hey this is domething interesting i read... ganguly has hit 5 first class centuries in 2005 inspite of his slump. his problem seems to be with international matches only. perhaps the pressure of performance is too much in such matches?

Kaif most probably wont play in this Sri lanka series. he has a small chance of playing the last two ODI's but I dont think the selectors might go for a comeback from Kaif for just two matches. So it would be good that either Raina or Rao would get to play some good amount of matches. I would go for Rao since he adds more stability to the batting along with Dravid and he can accelerate beautifully!
