Singh blasted an explosive half-century as PlanetCricket dented Ireland aspirations with a 7-wicket demolition at Carnivore Bridge, Buet. Singh smashed an unbeaten 75 including nine fours and a six, as the PC piled a 7-wicket win. Riz weighed in with 50 not out and Fenil Patel took 4-53 ? his second four-wicket haul in one-day cricket.
The Ireland were woeful at the start and they collapsed to 181 all out, with Ed Joyce making 71, and starts from Johnston and Mooney with 25 and 23 respectively provided any resistance. The home side put down a symbol in the first few overs of their innings - Guru and Singh putting on 55 in the second wicket. The fourth over from Rankin went for 15 with a no-balls added to a six and four fours that came from the bat of Singh.
The opener Guru finally fell to a catch in the deep off O'Brien for 41 but, by the end of the bowling power-play, the PC had reached 99 for three compared to the Ireland's 82 for five at the same stage. From that point on PlanetCricket were in complete command and they made light work of the victory charge with Singh dominating the Ireland attack. He struck the ball superbly on both sides of the wicket, hitting a six off Dockrell, in addition to numerous other boundaries that flew through the gaps in the field. Riz and Singh shared a fourth-wicket stand of 75 in 13 overs that took the home side to the brink of victory.
